In year 3 she only shows up 2x and in year 4 she's in the 2 part season premiere and one other show. I kind of agree that she was annoying; when I watched the show as a kid and a teenager I disliked her character strongly. However she did add a dimension to the show in that she had character traits that were worse than George's.

One interesting episode idea for Mother Jefferson is George visting her in HARLEM. That would have been a nice switch up

I don't remember them ever saying where Mother Jefferson lived. For some reason I thought she lived someplace other than Harlem. Harlem was still a rough area in the 70s and Mother Jefferson carried herself like she was used to a certain level of comfort and sophistication, she took taxis to and from George's place fro example. Also there is an episode where George was scared to go to Harlem I think or he went there and they ripped off his van.
