The story of C.W. Roddy, a grandmother living in a suburb of Palo Alto(sp?) California. Her neighborhood was overrun with street gangs and drug dealers who blatantly peddeled their poisons in front of Roddy's home. She singlehandedly took a stand, and reported much of their activity to the local police. On one occasion, she even placed a dealer under citizen's arrest after he threatned her life. On January 1st, 1990, shots were fired at Roddy's home. She was badly injured, but survived. Roddy and her neighbors described her attackers as local drug dealers and gang members. The shooters subsequently dropped out of sight. Their efforts did not hinder Roddy's protests, however. The segment ended on a postive note with Roddy discussing how parents felt safe bringing their children to the local park.

Yes, I remember that segment. In fact, my memory of it resurfaced recently, and I considered mentioning it at this board. At first, however, I couldn't recall the woman's name. Besides, I haven't seen that segment since its telecast on NBC; it was never rerun on Lifetime.
