No, it has to be MJF because he played a likeable person who just did the wrong thing some time, and Charlie Sheen's character comes off way more slimy likely because of his own much rockier personal history.

I relate to Fox's character more than Sheen's.

Michael J. Fox was the show.Without Mike Spin City would have never exist. Spin City was made for Mike Fox.So I think we can't compare.

I hate saying it because I worship MJF (my fave actor the last 17 years) but just in terms of writing, I felt it, for whatever reason, got better when Sheen joined the cast. Forgive me, Mike! http://www.sitcomsonline.com/ubb/frown.gif

My Vote Goes To Charlie Sheen! Even though I like Mike and Spin City Was Funny/Great when He Was apart of it.

But Now that Mike's gone Spin City's Gotten Better With Charlie in it!

Before Charlie Came: I Liked it.
Now That Charlie's On: I Absoultly Love it!

Sorry Mikey.

MJF is hilarious on SPIN CITY; Charlie Sheen isn't as good, but he is still very funny & an awesome comedic actor. When MJF left, the quality of writing went down a little (In that there weren't as many great jokes/gags, the storylines weren't as creative -- the mayor, for example, was given a lot funnier material in the past -- and half the cast left; including James, one of the absolute best), but the show was still one of the few great sitcoms still in production on television.

The show was better with Michael J. Fox. Charlie Sheen was good. He and Heather Locklear had a good chemistry. But since half the cast disappeared and the writing wasn't as good, Spin City Version 2 wasn't as good.

In syndication, they just played MJF's finale. One thing that's sort of funny about that episode is how Mike chooses to take the fall for the scandal to save his friends jobs. In the next episode, Nikki, James, and Jannelle are gone. I wonder if that reporter did some more investigating at City Hall?

Mike, Mike, Mike!!! He was one of the most believable characters ever! He was a workaholic, but he had actual human emotions that made him a very realistic person.

Charlie, as somebody else said, was very slimy, and I never got attached to him the way I was attached to Mike. I cried for a half hour when good 'ol Mikey left the show! It was awful, and it made me realize what a great character and person he was.

Mikey J....ALL THE WAY!!! :bighug:

let's not forget that Charlie Sheen did win the golden globe for his performance as Deputy Mayor Charlie Crawford on the show

That doesn't mean he was better.

Everyone has their own opinion. In mine, Michael has better comedic gestures, says his lines with more flare, and has the unique ability to make the audience laugh simply by saying one line, no matter how ridiculous it is.

i didn't say he was better.
it's just that it's so sad to see so many people not even recognize him.
i mean, he works hard too.
he atleast kept the show on for 2 years.
but some people make me sick like on some other sites. you wouldn't believe all the hate Charlie Sheen is getting.

It is unfortunate. Although MJF is a lot better than Charlie Sheen, the thing that really kills SC at the end is the writing.

It isn't Sheen. Sheen is a very good comedic actor -- his timing and mannerisms are right on.
Whem Michael leaves, the writing and storylines begin to slip. By the final season, the show just totally loses it. The jokes are not funny (not just Charlie's, but everyone) and the show wreaks of desperation and a real struggle to make it until seasons end without getting cancelled early on.

Very true.

MJF is one of my favorite actors, but I did, and still do, think that continuing the show after he left was a bad idea.

MJF for me was the greatest. Although Sheen did a reasonable job but it was never the same with out michael. He is just a great actor and very funny man. Wish he was still around on more tv shows. Saw him on Scrubs the other day very very funny!!!

You Go david&maddie4ever!! I have not seen any with Charlie Sheen and I don't plan too, but no one can replace Michael. I thought he was the best and always will be the best. I cried for a long time on the Goodbye part 2 also. It was so sad. They show it on UPN at midnight here. On friday night it is going to be the first episode with Charlie. I am not watching it. The main reason I even watch the show is because it has Michael in it.

You were wise to stop watching. They also got rid of Nikki, James, and Janelle and never explained where they went.

I'm a massive fan of Michael J Fox and have been for pretty much 20 yrs. However, there is some truth in what you say I think. The best of the MJF episodes overshadow anything Sheen did, but there were times in the last couple of MJF seasons that things got a little weak. That was likely due to Michael finding the shooting schedule tougher and having less to give with the health problems. Having said that, the last two episodes were fantastic. A credit to all concerned.

Once I got used to Charlie taking over and put aside the whole "it's Mike's show" idea, I began to really enjoy the last two seasons. It helps to watch them in short succession - Paramount UK had them on daily. They played up to the reformed bad boy Charlie Sheen image quite amusingly, and Stuart and Carter remain on excellent form. Nothing beats MJF at his best, but I advise everyone who hasn't seen seasons 5 and 6 to give them a shot and approach them with an open mind. In the MJF shows, the Mayor, Stuart, Carter and Paul were all very amusing characters and they are still there, so all is not lost even if you don't warm to Charlie :-)

I have actually been watching some of the ones with Charlie, but I still don't think it is as good. It just isn't as funny. I mean Charlie Sheen is a good actor and I think for trying to take the place of MJF he did a good job. I just don't think it should have really gone on much longer after Mike left. That is just my opinion though. I just can't get into it as much with Charlie than I could before.

Charlie isn't bad. I like to watch spin city with him as well. But Michael is just great! And besides i find Michael more sexy than Charlie :)

I like Micheal J. Fox alot better on Spin City. Whenever they show reruns and the Charlie episodes come on I stoped watching till they show Micheal episodes again. Don't get me wrong I do like Charlie on two and half men but not on this show. I think the show got bad once the Fox left.
