apartment 3 people should be sharing is a LOFT. Three people had to live in that little apartment and still struggle with paying the rent. Janet and Chrissy must have been making minimum wage-lol It just didn't make sense to have rent problems with 2 out of the 3 people living in the apartment working full-time. Seems to me it would have been easier for them to live with their parents.

When Jack was trying to come up with the rent for his new restaurant, Janet said she had $200 in her savings and Terri said she only had $90. Nurses make good money. What did she do with it all?

Well, in 1982, guess we'd have to ask some ladies who were nurses back then. If they split the utlities three ways, food, etc., they didn't have cable or a VCR. Don't know what they were spending it on.

It was a lot cheaper living back then.

No cable.
No internet.
No cell phones.

I think the rent was $300 a month which makes it more odd-lol Three people couldn;t come up with $300? Even if Janet made $100 A week, and Chrissy a $100 a week, that would still mean that between the both of them, $800 was coming in each month. I guess I'm trying to say is that there should have never have been any storylines about them not be able paying the rent.

I had cable beginning back in 1977, so it was available during the show. The 2-bedroom apartment I shared with a friend in San Jose was only $180 a month. Ah, the good ol' days...I now pay $1365 a month for a 1-bedroom here in the burbs!

How much was cable in 1977? $10?-lol I mean it couldn;t have been that much considering the fact that it wasn't many cable channels at the time

Did they have cable in 77?

Rent! Gotta love it-- My flatmate and I together pay £700 + £200 for bills each month-- somewhere in the neighbourhood of £450 each (about $750-$800)... I have a friend that pays the same closer to London for a tiny little room in a house shared with 8 people!! LA Living can't be cheap!
