Does anyone know the current status of Estelle Getty's health. I remember that Bea Arthur said the she has dementia. But I just wondered if anyone has heard anything else. I grew up watching the Golden Girls, and I really love all those actresses.

Estelle has been living with what was believed to be Parkinson's disease for more than ten years. Her doctors have now diagnosed her condition as Lewy Body Dementia. Each day presents a different struggle for her. Three main symptoms of Lewy Body Dementia are:

1. Fluctuating alertness and/or cognition
2. Recurrent visual hallucinations
3. Parkinson's Disease symptoms.

She is both appreciative of and strengthened by all the support and concern of her loving fans. Be assured, Estelle has the best care available.

did anyone else see recently like in the last couple months, entertainment tonight had an update with Betty speaking of Estelle's health status and how she didn't recognize her anymore and she would not be visiting again as it was simply too hard to see her in such a shape

this news broke my heart and I think about her often

On Entertainment Tonight, the golden girls said she is still the same last time they saw her and talkd with her over the phone. All she would say over the phone is 'Yes" like your asking her a question. But Betty talked with her 3 months ago and she was alert and talking. She had better luck than Bea and Rue. It so sad to see her and even hear about whats she's going through. She slips away each day when she's not alert. I will hate to hear that's she no longer here when the time comes.
