I the episode in which we were introduced to Cousin Oliver :D I remembered reading discussion that Robert Reed refused to be in the pie-throwing movie at the end. However, when the Bradys (and Alice--and Oliver) were lined up outside Marathon Studios, Carol mentioned there were nine in her party. That was Carol, the six kids, Alice, and Oliver--1+6+1+1=9. So not only was Robert Reed out of the movie, he did not join the family at Marathon Studios at all? :confused: I don't get it; they didn't know when they made reservations that they would be in the movie! :eek:

Unless the reservations for the family touring the movie studio were made BEFORE it was determined that Cousin Oliver would be staying with them. Then the subplot about "Mike having to work" and Oliver taking his place would still have nine people touring the studio.

The family did go to a movie studios tour that was planned BUT it was while in line that Oliver made the 1 millionth visitor and that is why they were chosen to be special guests and have a bit in a movie.

You're right, shame on me for not researching that!

But I kinda don't blame Robert for not wanting to be in this pie throwing episode...

Robert didn't mind having all that stuff coming down on him where he opens the front door. The boys had planted a bucket above the door remember? ;)

I think he just didn't like the slapstick element of it.

Bob was kind of inconsistent in what he thought was proper comedy and what he thought was beneath him as an actor.

During "The Bradys", Bob was doing his usual nitpicking and commented on how much deep sh** Mr Brady would be in if he did what the script called for. At this point, Ann B. Davis had enough and went passed Bob, in character as Alice and stated, "Oh really, just how deep is your sh**, Mr. Brady??" and with that she walked off!! :lol: :lol: :lol:

Robert seemed to have forgotten that slapstick comedy is what begat all comedy. Three Stooges made it big because of that kind of comedy. As if that is so beneath Robert.

Robert should have been honored to be part of a show that to this day remains in the memory of those who watched it when it first began and the new generation of kids who continue to watch it in reruns.

Part of that new generation are my two nieces--ages 7 and 4! :D I got them hooked 2 years ago and for last Christmas, they asked for DVDs :lol:
