During the commercials of the What's Happening marathon, they advertised a Dee talking doll that heard her uses her phrases "ooooooh, I'm telling." They also showed a Dee piggy bank that heard her saying she could use a quarter.

If they actully had a talking Dee doll, I would get it. If TV Land sold talking dolls of classic TV characters saying classic phrases, I would buy them.

I defenitely get a J.J. and Arnold Jackson doll.

Who remembers the talking Urkel doll?

A JJ doll did exist... 2 variations... one totally made out of fabric and the other with a plastic head. One talked as welll.

There are half a dozen JJ dolls on Ebay... type in 1975 shindana jj jimmy walker.

If they made a Rerun doll, I could use it as a pincushion and would never run out of space for my needles and pins....Lmao!!!

Since I have always collected all sorts of dolls and interesting artifacts, and still do, I wish I could somehow get my hands on that particular doll, too! :happyface

Anyhow, I guess it was for promotional purposes (in a fictitious-product sense) as far as getting the WH show back on, was concerned.
I bet if one went up to the Collector's Garage stores up in NYC, Chicago, and Seattle, that you could get a "My Little Dee" doll! (And other TV characters' dolls as well!)
 ;)

It sounds to me like it was just a mock commercial to advertise What's Happening on TV Land.

That's quite right, ClassicTV...:talk:
The "My Little Dee Doll" was part of TV Land's "typical" mock commercials that was used to show everyone that WH is coming back on, on a regular basis on that channel. I still think it was a cute doll, though!
If only it were a real toy though...:happyface
