This is from today's USA Today Life section - Jeannie Williams column:
Rick Schroder says he and wife Andrea are "ecstatic" about the birth of their fourth child, an event shared with their other children.
Faith Anne Schroder arrived with a shock of black hair on Aug. 8 in Arizona, in what the former NYPD Blue star called "a real family experience. I thought (the kids) were mature enough to understand and appreciate it, and it turned out we were right. Andrea and I talked about it with them, and they wanted to do it. They stayed in the room and got to cut the cord."
The other Schroder children are Holden, 9, Luke, 8, and Cambrie, 4. Faith Anne's name is a poignant reminder that, as Schroder says, "We had a late miscarriage in our last pregnancy; it was pretty traumatic. But we had faith that everything would work out this time."
Schroder, 31, sounds besotted with his baby. "She's so beautiful! I just love the way she smells. I love watching my wife bonding with her. It's really important for a mom and a little girl to have some time without the hustle and bustle of the world. They spent the last week lying in bed, just being in love with each other."
The actor told TV critics this summer that he left the hit series because of family and "time-management" issues. He declined at the time to reveal the fate of his character, detective Danny Sorensen, saying he didn't want to spoil Blue creator Steven Bochco's surprise. He says he's still waiting for the right project since leaving the show.
Schroder also is happy about President George W. Bush, for whom he campaigned,. "I got to deposit a $600 refund check today from the IRS, and I told the cashier that's thanks to President Bush."
