- Sitdown Comedy with David Steinberg
Premiered Wednesday, December 14
Wednesdays 10:00 p.m. and 1:00 a.m. ET/PT
Legendary comedian, producer and director David Steinberg engages classic and contemporary comedians -- who got their starts in television - for uproarious conversations in which the celebrated performers share anecdotes from their careers in entertainment. Guests scheduled to appear include Larry David, Martin Short, Jon Lovitz, Mike Myers, and George Lopez.
ENCORES: Thursdays 9:00 a.m., Saturdays 11:30 a.m., Saturdays 8:00 p.m., Sundays 11 p.m., Tuesdays 11:59 p.m; Tuesdays 5:00 a.m.; Wednesdays 5 p.m.

January episodes:
Wednesday, January 4; 10-10:30 pm (ET/PT)
During his discussion with David Steinberg, Martin Short recalls his early days growing up as a stage-struck kid in a small Canadian town, his start as a singer and dancer and his move to New York. Short also displays his talent as a master impressionist doing everyone from Robin Williams to Liza Minelli ... and even David Steinberg.

Wednesday, January 11; 10-10:30 pm (ET/PT)
In this episode, David Steinberg talks to Jon Lovitz about his early years as a suburban kid with a funny dad, his time with the improve group "The Groundlings," and his big break on Saturday Night Live and creating such memorable characters as the Master Thespian and The Pathological Liar.

Wednesday, January 18; 10-10:30 pm (ET/PT)
George Lopez reveals his difficult upbringing in East Los Angeles and how his life story eventually became the material for his stand-up act, the challenges faced in creating a career in comedy and how he incorporates everything in his life into his TV series.

Wednesday, January 25; 10-11 pm (ET/PT)
Special Guest: Larry David (Ep. #003) (encore)
Larry David discusses his first job after graduating from college with a major in history: New York City taxi driver. He covers his move from chauffeur to underpaid stand-up comic and recalls his friendship with Jerry Seinfeld and their co-creation of the hit TV show, “Seinfeld.” He discusses his friends and influences as well as the difference between the character he plays on “Curb Your Enthusiasm” and his own personality. Obviously at ease with colleague Steinberg, Larry David is disarmingly candid and insightful and funny as he reveals the long winding road to his great success.

Great to see 'Miami Vice' airing somewhat regularly on TV Land starting in January. Also glad to see 'Happy Days' back at 9am and the 'All in The Family' specials.

'Carol Burnett and Friends' & 'Mister Ed' have expired, right?

Wow, didn't realize Ed and Carol have expired...

Didn't Ed come in September 2003? They must of had the rights earlier than that then... Carol must of been what, a 2 year deal?

People call westerns boring and all, but "Gunsmoke" and "Bonanza" really are ratings monsters. And while I don't necissarily consider it a western, LHOTP is definitely a huge hit. It airs four times a day on Hallmark and twice daily on TVLand for a reason!

It will be great to see "The A-Team" and "Miami Vice" airing on the TVLand schedule starting in January. I think its great that TVLand is having an "All In The Family" 35th Anniversary 48 hour marathon weekend and a Top 10 episode for the top 10 "All In The Family" episodes. I look forward to seeing all of this in January.

Did TVLand lose the rights to air "Wings" and "SCTV"?

No, just Mister Ed and Carol Burnett expires after 12/31. Unfortunately for Wings and SCTV, the My Time Marathons are now moving to 2-4am, and that just pre-empts both Wings and SCTV.

They don't have the rights to those. I think Encore still has rights to those. I think Encore Western Channel still airs it, but I'm not 100% sure.

I think some of Gunsmoke's popularity stems from what makes LHOTP popular: its fans vary in many different ages and cultures, but they all love the show for the same reason. LHOTP fans are VERY diverse group of people. I thought I was the only teenage guy who was interested in the show. How WRONG I was!

I'm a HUGE fan of "Wings". In fact, it's my second favorite show of all-time. However, I don't feel it belongs on TV Land. Of course it's a classic sitcom. I'm not saying it doesn't deserve to be there, I just mean TV Land is supposed to be for shows of the 50's, 60's, 70's and 80's. N@N is for shows of the 90's. I'm glad (being a fan of the show) that they showed it, don't get me wrong. I'm just saying that it's too recent for TV Land. And of course, TV Land should not show original reality shows at all.

well that is good to hear. To bad they won't air the black and white episodes. I have seen the color ones so many times but I have never seen the black and white ones.I've seen the black-and-white episodes, years ago on THE FAMILY CHANNEL (now THE ABC FAMILY CHANNEL).
And, I've also seen a couple of the first ones, when it was a half-hour. YEARS AGO I got a couple episodes of it on tape (including the pilot, which was introduced by John Wayne).
And I have a lot of episodes on cassete of the radio series.

Santa Monica, CA, January 9, 2006 - From the infamous Sammy Davis Jr. kiss to the birth of Gloria and Mike's baby, TV Land's Top Ten will honor the show's 35th anniversary by counting down the top episodes from this legendary series. The all new installment will premiere on Saturday, January 14 at 10 P.M. ET/PT. The special, which ranks the most memorable, controversial and most talked about episodes from the groundbreaking comedy will include interviews from series producer Norman Lear to performers Rob Reiner, Jean Stapleton and Sally Struthers as well the late Carroll O'Connor, to name a few. These iconic Hollywood figures offer their insights about specific scenes and storylines as well as the behind-the-camera efforts that made the show the TV classic is it today. The series is being produced for TV Land by TV Land Productions in conjunction with Robert Small Entertainment.

In addition to the prime-time special, TV Land will complement the special by airing over 75 episodes in a two-day 48 hour tribute which will begin on Saturday, January 14 at 6 A.M. ET/PT.

All in the Family originally premiered on January 12, 1971 to mixed reviews and considerable fanfare. The show fearlessly tackled such topics as racism, feminism and the war raging in Vietnam and soon became a number one hit and the talk of the country with nearly 60 million households tuning into the show weekly. The sitcom revolves around blue-collar worker Archie Bunker (Carroll O'Connor) and his family. Bigoted, opinionated and uneducated, Archie makes no bones about his racial and political views, which are borne out of every negative stereotype imaginable. His "better half," his wife Edith (Jean Stapleton), who he not-too-affectionately refers to as "Dingbat," is ditzy and subservient, but her sweetness and good heart provide a perfect balance for the harsh character of Archie. Also residing in the Bunker house are Archie's daughter Gloria (Sally Struthers) and her college student/husband Michael Stivic (Rob Reiner). Some of the greatest commentary and comedic moments come from the verbal sparring between the narrow-minded Archie and the thoughtful, liberal "Meathead," as Archie insists on calling him.
