I love 97.1 Talk Radio. I enjoy listening to Howard Stern. I can't wait to hear him on Sirius.
I also love hearing The Triplets: Heidi, Frosty and Frank. Those three are awesomely funny. They make me laugh everyday.

I also love this AM oldies station: 1450 The Boomer. They are not like the typical oldies station. They play rare, hard-to-find and lost oldies. They also play some regular oldie stuff, but I enjoy hearing songs I don't hear anywhere else.

On my Sirius Radio I enjoy THE 70'S. On XM Satellite, I love THE CHROME and SOUL STREET. I really love old school R&B and alot of the urban beats that make you wanna dance, even though you are driving.

My favorite used to be Star 93.7 from Boston, mostly 70s dance hits, remixes, etc. and the morning show was the best. Then they all got fired for some reason and changed it to Mike FM :mad:. The station is good though- they play everything, and I mean EVERYTHING. I just miss the people.

I plan on getting Sirius within the next couple of months, all because Stern is going there. Aside from him, I don't listen to much radio. I listen to Mike and The Mad Dog, which is a sports show on WFAN here in NYC. A few years ago we had a 70s soul station that I listened to that played all my old favorites: Al Green, Barry White, Stylistics, etc. They even introduced me to songs I hadn't been familiar with, like "Turn Back The Hands of Time" by Tyrone Davis, which I now LOVE. Anway, they ended up changing formats and it became a hip hop station, so I stopped listening. I like hip hop, but not hip hop radio.

yeah, you know it's because we are now in the new millenium, what we consider oldies, ARE REALLY OLD. The "new" oldies are the stuff you said from 60's to 70's. Man, when I heard one of our oldie stations play a song by Earth Wind and Fire, that's when I knew I was getting OLDER!!!:eek:

That's kinda bad though, I really liked listening to the older songs. (Everyone says I was born in the wrong decade :lol: ) And for everyone else who liked the other songs, there aren't many places you can listen to them. Aw don't worry about getting older, just think of it as getting smarter then the people younger than you! :D

In the Orlando area:

WHTQ, Q96-Classic Rock
98.9, WMMO-soft rock & roll(the great thing about this station is they tell you the title & artist of every song and they don't talk over the music, which is a music pet peeve of mine!!)
O-Rock, 105.9
WJRR, 101.1-JRR means Just Rock-n-Roll

Has anybody heard of JackFM? Apparently. it's a national-wide station because when I travel, I pick up this station in the bigger cities. I first heard it in Dallas, and now I've heard it in Nashville, Kansas City, Oklahoma City, Indianapolis, Chicago, and LA.

They play some diverse music. Like they'll play The Who, then Kelly Clarkson. I don't really consider it a mix station, but they don't play anything too hard or too soft. I love it and really don't change the station when I can pick it up somewhere. I would love us to get JackFM down here.

Yep, I hear JackFM, sometimes it will say JillFM. get it, jack and jill. lol
i have it programmed on my radio, but i rarely hear the radio because i have satellite radio, but still, the diversity of it is nice. Unfortunately, that station took over the spot of the station that used to be there and I miss that station, they played nothing but old rock.

Hey, Irene, which satellite radio do you have, XM or Sirius? I want to get satellite radio so bad but I just keep dragging my feet. I don't know why because it's only $49.95 at Best Buy. But I'm still trying to decide which one to get. XM has a prog rock station which I would be interested in but Sirius has 80's hair bands which I would also be interested in. I can't pick!!

Well I picked Sirius, for the MAN, Mr. Stern. I just received the radio I ordered today, so I'm happy I'll be able to be there from the start. In addition to channels 100 and 101, I'll definitely check out Big 80s, The Strobe (disco) and Soul Town (classic soul) among others. I don't even have it hooked up yet but I'm glad I've got it.

I can understand you wanting Sirius to listen to Howard Stern, but to listen to disco and classic soul?!? Hello? You live in New York! There are more disco/hip-hop/R&B stations in NYC than you can shake a stick at, plus more stations with other formats that can acomodate songs like "Got To Be Real" (I hate that song!), while it's getting hard -damn hard - to find a god rock station in NYC. I live right across the river in the Jeresy suburbs, I should know! Subscribing to satellite radio in New York to listen to disco is like subscribing to satellite radio in Nashville to listen to country! :lol: :brent

online radio, and maybe Sirius/XM if I ever got those, but regular radio here in da ville is too plain and boring and have the most boring playlists. Our classic rock stations always play the same fifteen or so artists... our modern rock plays too much of that emo crap (which IMO is no better than rap rock), we have no dance format, we lost our jammin oldies station, which turned into a present day hip hop station, etc... it can go on.

We have so much country here. We DID at one point have an 80's station but it was basically the Springsteen/John Cougar Mellencamp station (I like JCM, but come on!!!) yet didn't even play Michael Jackson or Madonna, the two artists that are more 80's than anyone.

The main reason I'm getting it is for Stern, it's not so much the music stations. They're a bonus, but seeing as how there's a fee for the service, I might as well listen to all that's available, which includes no commercials.

By the way, you might want to check out satellite yourself.

Sirius Channels:
14: Early Classic Rock

AOL Radio used to be fun but it's getting more boring now that it's gotten more and more aligned with XM instead of it's own channels.

For a period in early 2004 leading up to the release of Musicology, they had an all-Prince radio station, which included ALL of his albums, even N.E.W.S. and One Nite Alone and even had some of the b-sides and remixes on his singles, I dunno why they abandoned it because that station was very fun and unpredictable.

if you like internet radio, you should try Live365.com out, it's free with commercials, or $3.65 a month commercial-free (though some stations don't apply with commercials) and it's like a Google for online radio, if you can't find a station to your liking there, then frankly, you're too hard to please, lol.

For the chart gurus, there's even two seperate Billboard oriented radio stations, updated usually every week or two (I think the guy took a break this week though), right now they're simultaneously broadcasting the top 50 chart from the last week of 1975 and 1985 respectively (as the 70's BB channel and 80's BB channel always touches on the same year for each decade).

I'd love to - :eyes: - but it's a little too much to squeeze in my budget right now. By the way, would an automtoive installation require drilling of any kind? Because what if I ordered it then had to give it up for some reason? I don't want any drill holes in my car! :eek:

I mean, we're talking about my Volkswagen!

My favorite radio stations are the following:
<snip>
WCHO 1250 (nostalgia), Washington Court House, OH
<snip>

Right after Christmas last year WCHO switched to a "rock and roll oldies" format. Ultimately I found another nostalgia station that can be heard in Dayton if I'm lucky, WMRI AM 860 in Marion, Indiana (north-northeast of Indianapolis). Unless I am east of I-675 I cannot tune in to WMNI AM 920 out of Columbus. In my apartment I tried the 920 frequency and picked up a station in Milwaukee :eek: instead, with a shortwave radio at that!
