First, I dislike the way Universal added that 22 second promo of their company, before each and every episode.

Second, I dislike the way there are no tracks to skip through certain scenes. If you want to see a scene close to the end, you have to fast forward through the entire episode.

Third, captioning for this set is not as good as the Season 1 DVD. On the Season 1 DVD, every single word is captioned. On this DVD, some words are skipped, like when Herman says "Darn Darn Darn", they only show one "Darn".

Lastly, if you take a screencap of any Season 2 episode, there is a thin black line at the bottom of the picture. That means the aspect ratio of the picture onscreen is off a little bit. But, it is does not show while playing on a televison set, only when played on computers.

I've been looking for a bargain on Ebay and there hasn't been one. So it's the old-fashioned way, those buildings with merchandise in them, what are they called...? I forget.

I will say this, Universal did do a good job with the digital remastering.

I had an unremastered film copy of Big Heap Herman converted to VHS, and during the title theme, where it says "Joe Connelly and Bob Mosher", the film really shook and there was a ton of black dots and large film cracks. On the DVD, none of that is there. The picture is practically perfect.

I have heard that the Season 2 DVD PACKAGING is among the worst EVER. The disks are near impossible to get out of "Herman's Head" and even harder to get back in. As a person with uncordinated hands due to a disability, is there any way that we can contact Universal about a simpiler package design? (Like Season 1)

I am a huge Munsters fan!! But let's say hypothetically that Universal released a new package design. How long would this take to reach store shelves?

It's not really that hard to open. Just push from the top, and pull the bottom out. I would suggest to leave the inner "head" out of the original package, because that's really tough to get back in.

Another good thing I noticed. In the TVLand version of Prehistoric Munster, the episode shakes, it shakes about a centimeter up and down the screen. On the the Season 2 DVD set, that episode does NOT shake AT ALL! Universal did good with the picture, the sound could have used a little help, though.

I also thought that the "No chapter skips" idea was a bummer!

I got my set today (woohoo) and what you've heard is right. The packaging is atrocious. Probably the worst I've seen. I'd be exchanging it for another if the offer comes up. One of Herman's bolts was bent as well !!!

Well, what I plan to do is ask for the set for Christmas and if I get it, have someone get the disks out for me and then store the disks in some CD/DVD cases that I can pick up from someplace. What I am saying is, once whoever helps me gets the disks out of Herman's Head, they aren't going back in again.

Someone said that it helps somewhat to NOT push the inner-head overlay back into the box. I suck at visualizing things, but that's what someone said. (I think this was from a review at Amazon.)

Putting them into separate cases is a great idea, something I was thinking of doing myself, and you can have any cover art you like. :)

Still ain't got season two, and won't get until Christmas or after, due to buying restraints of everything except presents now that it's almost that time of year again, but season one, I know from experience was a real pain sometimes when the package that didn't hold the discs would get pushed into the bottom of the coffin design. (which happens when the string attatched to the box would fall into the box).

What I think would really be great, would be to package Season 1 and Season 2, together in a 6-disc-set, in normal packaging. And as a special bonus, add the original widescreen copy of Munster, Go Home! to disc 3 of Season 2.

Would you believe I couldn't find it at Walmart or Super Walmart? The same for Kmart. I still don't have this Season 2 DVD set.

I don't think Walmart and KMart buy Season sets of shows, because that would be pretty costly for them. They mostly have small volumes of stuff like The Lucy Show and Jack Benny and stuff like that, that are cheap for them to buy and sell.

Some auctions are as low as 11 bucks, some "Buy-it-now" auctions are about as low as 35 bucks.

Wal-Mart does provide all kinds of DVDs depending on the store, including official releases of feature films and televisions series. http://www.walmart.com, that's their site, they have an impressive amount of titles available.

Anyway, I think they did that packaging to coinside with Halloween. Had Season 2 been released at a different time, I can't see a reason why they wouldn't have just gone with the Season 1 box.

The Picture is quite good considering it is 40 years old. And The Munsters was printed on 16mm B&W TV film. 16mm is small compared to the 32mm film used for movies. Because of the smaller film size, you can really see grain in some scenes.

The Audio is not bad for Mono, but it is quite low, and there are a few fuzzy spots in the sound at times.

The DVD Menus are OK, but I don't like the yellow colorization of Eddie in the Episodes section. Plus the no chapter skips idea was a dumb idea. Plus there is a 22 second Universal promo before each and every episode. Very annoying!

The packaging was just a stupid move on the part of Universal. The Herman head is so tight inside, it's pointless to put it back in.

The Bonus Features are great! You get a real in-depth look at The Munsters TV series, and an in-depth look at the top 3 main actors, Fred Gwynne, Yvonne De Carlo, and Al Lewis. A total of 4 Biographies.
