This is my first post on the DVD forum (and second post on the sitcomsonline message boards) and I wanted to know about something I saw on TV years ago. I remember seeing a commercial on TV a couple of times many years ago for a video with outtakes and bloopers from The Dick Van Dyke Show. Does anyone know what I'm talking about? Was I just dreaming this? Just curious! Reply if anyone knows what I'm talking about here!

Benno123,
I've never seen that commercial, but there is a such a blooper reel. It's a bootleg; in otherwords, not officially authorized or released by Calvada, but it's out there circulating.

I have something like that. My dear hubby saw it advertized on TV almost 10 years ago & ordered it for me. It is about a 30 minute VHS tape with all sorts of outtakes, bloopers. I have never seen anything like it before or since.

I have that vhs and have converted it to DVD. I'd love to trade a copy of this for scans and pictures of MTM, Laura Petire or any of the Dick Van Dyke show (except screen caps). Write me off line for more info at gsv107@optonline.net.

Carl Reiner was very secretive with the bloopers that did occur on the set, and since he felt them so embarassing and unprofessional, he decided to not let them be shown on the official Image Home Entertainment seasonal DVDs.

I'd love to see the bloopers if ever officially released; they must be great, being how Dick Van Dyke, the show and the person himself, were so generally wacky and funny (in a good way, of course)! Dick is just the kind of person to keep a "gag" running, a genuinely hilarious man.

In the audio commentary on the DVD's Carl did admit to the "boner" about them living in the new house after Ritchie was born in "That's My Boy." And they left in the bit where Dick forgot to look up the number in the phone book until after dialing the radio station in "Bupkis." Of course, these weren't conventional "bloopers" in the sense of what we're talking about. These actually went out on the actual telecast.

Thanks everyone for the replies. I knew I wasn't dreaming seeing this advertised on TV, and about 10 years ago would be right because I know I was still in high school at the time of seeing it. I saw it advertised once, possibly twice and that was that, no more. Since it was unauthorized I'm not surprised for it being so rare, but I'd love to get a copy of it on DVD sometime.

Thanks for all your replies!
