I just found :talk: the song "Freddie" by Charlene from 1977. It was a moving song and a nice tribute, although sad. Does anyone know what LP (if any) this was on, or any more info on Charlene? Is she still around? Also, did this song chart? Thanks.........

I couldn't find very much about Charlene. We had this discussion a while back, so you might want to go back a few pages and see if you can find it. I did a search on billboard.com and well, this is all I could find about her. Hope it helps a little.

All I know about her is she had the hit song in the 70's called "I've Never Been To Me" which I haven't heard in yrs. I had never heard of the Freddie song until it was mentioned on here...

I remember the Freddie song play for like 2 weeks on the radio and then faded.

I've never been to me lasted about 6 weeks on the charts and then it faded.

Actually I don't think it was ever released on an album, just a 45RPM. I was able to obtain a tape copy from a friend on here a while ago. I was also able to win a copy of the sheet music on eBay a while back as well. It is a sad but moving song.

I think so too Joy. It's sad to read her biography. One thing about her is that she had a great voice. I loved the Freddie song. When I hear her singing it I feel it is something that I would've wanted to tell Freddie myself.
