hey i have a question to ask you behind the scenes what really happen to john amos depature from the show, and how many season was he on there, and what season did the show become the JJ SHOW

He was in the first three seasons. It was JJ's show from the get go.

John Amos was on the show for 3 seasons, from the beginning of the show in Feb.1974 until 1976. Amos and Esther Rolle (Florida) were becomming increasingly irritated by the shift of the stories going from serious, topical episodes to showcasing the "stereotypical bufoonery" of Jimmie Walker's J.J. character. They both complained about it in a 1975 Ebony magazine article. John Amos also frequently had disputes with the writers on the quality of the scripts. Effective September 1976, Norman Lear informed Amos that he was being released from his contract and would not be returning for the 1976-77 4th season. Amos was told that he was considered a "disruptive factor". His character, James Evans, was said to have found a job working as a partner in a garage in Mississippi. The whole family was set to move there to start a new life . . . then they got word: James had been killed in an automobile accident. The show, in my opinion, was NEVER the same again without John Amos. He was really the heart of the show. Esther Rolle left a year later for some of the same problems, but returned for the last season following a pay increase and a promise that the J.J. character would be "toned down a bit."

The show was damaged when they released John Amos. He was the heart and soul of Good Times. More damaged was done when Esther Rolle left. She was the backbone of Good Times. By the time she returned the damage was so severe that nothing could had been done to repair the show. It's too bad because it was a good show when it started but the whole J.J. act got old, tiring and irriating to watch.
