Does anyone know why they chose not to record a new version for Season 5? I always found it strange that they reverted back to Season 3's theme for that final season. If they chose not to record a new version, you would think they would choose to keep the more current one in the opening credits instead of going back 2 years to when the kids were younger. For the record, I have always thought Season 4's theme has kicked a** because it had a more hip, rock 'n roll vibe to it (plus Jan and Peter made better lead singers than Greg and Marcia who's vocals were more prominent in the Season 3/5 theme). Still, both versions were better than the horrible Season 2 version with the kids all singing in unison and sounding sickeningly saccharine.

My guess is that it was a budget issue - those recording sessions cost money. And Sherwood Schwartz apparently preferred the third season theme song -- he also used the same vocal tracks (with new instrumentation) for "The Brady Girls Get Married" as well as "A Very Brady Christmas". I never cared for the fourth season vocals - Eve Plumb sounds nasal and stuffed up. Maureen McCormack has a better voice, IMHO.

I like the 4th Season theme too. The drumming on that one kicks butt!!
I hate the twanging guitar of the 2nd season version.

Chalk up another one for the 4th season :D I did like the one used for The Brady Girls Get Married though, the 3rd/5th season one with new/rearranged background music.
