This is no contest to me. New Edition hands down! The reason why I made a poll because I know New Kids got a large fan base. New Edition inspired New Kids. New Edition is more talented, better singers, better dancers. New Kids are pale imitators,(no pun intended)

New Edition wins by a landslide here for the reasons you've stated.

Although I can't front like I did back in the day, I did like a few of their hit songs.

Plus all of N.E.'s members had successful careers outside of the group. Only Jordan and Joey had solo hits, though Donnie has done well acting. Another N.E. plus is their longevity, they more or less stayed together longer than NKOTB.

Just now watching Access Hollywood, Bobby Brown will be performing with New Edition on BET 25.

I love New Kids On The Block better than New Edition. They were so popular before the Backstreet Boys and *NSync. They sounded a lot R&Bish. I love "You Got It (The Right Stuff)", "Please Don't Go Girl", "I'll Be Loving You Forever", "Hangin' Tough", "Step By Step" and "This One's For The Children".
