View Full Version : Department Store Episode...???
Ireneparalegal 10-26-2005, 08:42 PM Why is it the man ASSUMED that Florida would want to have been hired to begin with? Just because Florida accompanied her husband to the interview doesn't mean she is available to work. That man just assumed and told the interviewer to HIRE HER ON THE SPOT. How idiotic was that? What were the writers' smoking when they wrote this?????
Also, I don't know what office of human resources, or personnel would allow "visitors" to sit in on an interview...?????
gilligan fanatic 10-26-2005, 08:49 PM I saw that today and wondered the same thing. She never even said what kind of job she wanted.
TVFactFan 10-26-2005, 08:53 PM Yes it was foolish of James to take his wife on a job interview-lol Then he was mad at Florida and he was the one who took her down there

LOL I never really thought about that, I don't know why they didn't have Florida sit out in the waiting room area. But I guess if she wasn't sitting in the office with James then she wouldn't have gotten hired LOL.
In the line of business I'm in, when someone comes in for an interview, and if they have someone with them, I tell the other person that they are with, that they can sit and wait in the lobby area.

Exactly. I've said it before, but James wasn't too bright. He acted stupid sometimes.

Mostly when it cames to getting jobs. The top 3 Stupid James Evans moments when he killed his own chances of getting a job is
1.Deciding not to go to a interview after the bus took too long to come
2.Taking his wife to a job interview with him
3.Asking the interviewer when does he start and wasn't offered the job yet

Number 3 especially. Now that showed James' stupidity. He's talking about being certified and qualified for the job. Then he demands "Now I want the job"!!! LOL He really wasn't getting now.

LOL yeah I thought that was stupid also. One weekend a few friends of mine were over (2 of which are much older then me) and that episode was on. And like you, I said that James was dumb for not taking the job. And they called it to my attention that back then, a lot of black families didn't break up or have a father just up and leave like that especially when the mother and father had been married for a long period of time, And James and Florida had been married for over 20 years. And that's probably one reason why Florida didn't want James to leave for a year to go lay pipes in Alaska, no matter how much money he was going to make.

Although it was stupid of James to bring Florida to the job interview the reason he did it was because he was hoping they would interview her for another position...They were hoping another position would be available so then they would both get a job but ummm didnt quite work out that way.
