View Full Version : WB's Next Big DVD Release Date???
troopoleon8897 10-26-2005, 04:16 PM Earlier this year on February 8th, Warner Bros. Released a ton Sitcoms on DVD as part of their 50th Anniversary. These were the shows released:
The Fresh Prince Of Bel-Air: Season 1
Full House: Season 1
The Jamie Foxx Show: Season 1
Murphy Brown: Season 1
Night Court: Season 1
The Wayans Bros: Season 1
Since then these have been further released:
The Fresh Prince Of Bel-Air: Season 2 (October 11th)
Full House: Season 2 (December 6th)
Now Three more Warner Bros. Releases have been annouced:
Growing Pains: Season 1 (February 7th)
The Fresh Prince Of Bel-Air: Season 2 (February 14th)
Living Single: Season 1 (February 14th)
So What new shows do you think will get released? and what shows will continue? and which date will they bundle them up on or should they not?
(btw, I don't know if there were more WB Sitcoms released so if there were just put it in your response and i'll add it to this post)
PZelda 10-26-2005, 04:55 PM It would be realllllllllllllllllllllllllllly nice if WB would get moving on a Mama's Family release and release S1 and S2 together (S1 was 13 episodes, S2 was 22 episodes) in February. But I doubt that will happen that soon. Grrr.
TV_Fan 10-26-2005, 06:41 PM I'd be REALLY happy if WB announced any of these shows:
Perfect Strangers
Family Matters
Eight is Enough
Alice
Valerie/Hogan Family
Spencer For Hire
Love Sidney
Life Goes On
The Smurfs
I'm not holding my breath though!
Johnny S 10-26-2005, 06:53 PM I am hoping for The Drew Carey Show most, as well as current sitcoms Joey, George Lopez and Two & Half Men. I wouldn't complain about Family Matters either. (Which IMO has the best chance out of the ones I listed)
troopoleon8897 10-26-2005, 09:44 PM I think the big block of sitcoms should not be released on just one day but all of february, This Is How I wish it would go:
Feb 7th
Growing Pains: Season 1
Valerie: Season 1
Step By Step: Season 1
Feb 14th
The Fresh Prince Of Bel-Air: Season 3
Living Single: Season 1
Martin: Season 1
Feb 21st
Family Matters: Season 1
Perfect Strangers: Season 1 & 2
Hangin' With Mr. Cooper: Season 1
Feb 28th
Mama's Family: Season 1 & 2
The Drew Carey Show: Season 1
Night Court: Season 2
Then In April They should continue other shows (Full House, Murphy Brown, The Wayans Bros, and The Jamie Foxx Show) and start other shows...
mlingerfelt 10-26-2005, 09:48 PM WB needs to release seaon sets of Chico and the Man.
Johnny S 10-26-2005, 10:58 PM This Is My Wishlist

Living Single: Season 1
Feb 21st
Family Matters: Season 1
Two And A Half Men: Season 1
Feb 28th
The Drew Carey Show: Season 1
Full House: Season 3
vashti1999 10-26-2005, 11:03 PM I know you guys are posting wishlists, but Warner would never do that, I don't think. To flood the market with 12 to 16 tv related dvd releases in such a short period of time...I don't see any company doing that.
Pavan 10-26-2005, 11:50 PM That is a bit overdone, lol. Like vashti said, that is WAY too much. Especially since Warner has not done a good job in releasing sitcoms. Hopefully that will change in 2006, but they are more leaning towards "TV Favorites" sets like we saw of Chico and the Man. I hope to have some news for the blog tomorrow or Friday on Warner.
gilligan fanatic 10-27-2005, 10:54 AM many of the WB dvds are priced good to
troopoleon8897 10-27-2005, 03:28 PM Warner has never released a "Seasons 1&2" package before. I think they would (if they ever) release Mama's Family seperately.
I agree with you now that I think about it for Mama's Family (because of Night courts 1st season) but I think they should package Perfect Strangers: Seasons 1 and 2 together because season 1 only had six (if it is ever get released)

A wouldn't mind a collection of Alice episodes. That's one of those shows I definitely want to see and would like as a season set, but for me it's not mandatory like Welcome Back Kotter. If they release season sets based on how these collections do, I hope WBK did extremely well, though if I'm not mistaken it's still just a Best Buy exclusive.
Johnny S 10-27-2005, 05:55 PM I know that my wishlist is very unrealistic, and that it'd never happen. But it was just a wishlist. Not a prediction. I edited it to be a bit more realistic anyways.
TV_Fan 10-28-2005, 09:31 AM WB is starting to aggravate me with their TV favorites. I understand they're trying to see which shows have enough interest to warrant season sets, but come on, where is Perfect Strangers or Eight is Enough? Hopefully they already know there's enough interest in them that they don't need a TV Favorites and they'll go straight to season sets like they're doing with Growing Pains. I'm definitely going to buy Alice and Family Matters TV Favorites because I want to see season sets as soon as possible. I would have thought they realized there's enough interest in these two shows to go straight to season sets.

Those shows and Welcome Back Kotter too. Warner's been doing a good job with the old cartoons they own (Looney Tunes, Flintstones, etc.) I wish they would put that much interest in old sitcoms.

slackermonkey 10-28-2005, 05:05 PM I'm surprised Warner didn't try to release the first season of "Joey" on the same day as the last season of "Friends" to crosspromote the two, especially since the UK already got a DVD release of it.

I love Mama's Family but..... I want #20 Perfect Strangers more...
tvfan 2 10-28-2005, 09:48 PM They have a sale at media Play. If you buy the 1 season then you get the second season half Price. Its only on fox or WB DVDS.

I was almost sure that was what was going to happen, but apparantly they want to stretch releasing them out as much as possible.
