I've bought them at CompUSA (brick & morter, not online) for $1.99 for a box of 50. Once, I got a comparable deal at Supermediastore.com when I bought DVDs - it was one of those deals where 'if I added it to my basket at that time, it would only cost'...but their normal price is much higher.

Loren,
I've been ordering by the 1000 from ebay seller CompCDR. 1000 costs about $10, but then there's a $15 shipping fee, making my costs about the same as yours.

I have looked forever for some good deals, and I do not think you are going to get one better than $76 for 3000, I used to get them from a private seller for $50 for 2000. I found one seller on ebay and got 2000 for $44 shipped, but all of them came bent and that really messes with my storage so I am thinking of going back to my private seller.

Loren,

I checked on some prices because I will need some soon also.

I have not bought from this seller before. Not too bad of a price.

when i ship i usualy ship my discs in a spindle. ive made several trades with awesome traders on this board. usualy when i recieve my end of the trades the discs come in the sleeves. Once i did recieve a disc that was in a sleeve that was cracked an UN-playable. by no means was it the traders fault, it looked like it had been damaged during transport. i did COMPARE shipping costs between the sleeves in an envelope and discs in a spindle. both methods fit in larger envelopes. it does cost a buck or two more for shipping when shipping in a spindle, but atleast i know my package can take a beating on the way and the discs will be fine.

like i said, that cracked disc may have been a fluke accident and has only happened once to me. its also a good way to get rid of the spindles that just build up around the house as you buy more and more blank media.

speaking of which. we should open up a discussion........where is the cheapest place to buy blank media?? some places look cheap, then you factor in shipping rates, might as well went to walmart.

I don't know about everyone else but I don't want my DVD's coming from a trade on a spindle. The sleeves I get the discs in are how I store them. I have shipped and received 1000's of discs in sleeves and never had a problem with them getting messed up.

There have been numerous threads about this in the past, normally ends up in an arguement because some people think junk, no name brands are the same as TDK, maxell etc.

You can get TDK brand DVD-R at circuit city this week for $7.49 per 25 pack.
Thats only $29.96 per 100, not bad.

i have shipped in spindles from time to time, and many folks dont like that method

i dont care either way, as long as the spindle is tight, its no problem

i just dont like things shipped in the hard --brittle--plastic cd type cases

they always seem to be broken

i usualy dont ship in spindles due to shipping costs

i can get up to about 64 discs in sleeves in a priority flat rate mailer
either global or for here

a cake box 25 fills the same mailer right up

just a note about damage

i ship a few packages with discs

i have had one package get trashed in all the shipping i do

there were about 12 broken discs out of 30

there must have been some real impact to break discs taped and bagged together in a stack

i have had some problems with shipping a single disc

but for 37 cents

ill made a replacement once in a while

i could put it in a case and ship for $ 1.35 plus the cost of the case

but im way ahead and will play the odds at 37 cents ina sleeve

I haven't been trading DVDs for too long, and I've been using the slimline plastic cases because I thought they provided better protection during shipping and were better for storage. I know I'd rather receive them that way. If people would rather have the paper sleeves, though, maybe I'll start using those, instead. What's the general consensus?

i think you will find the plastic dvd cases dont hold the disc in place during shipping

allowing the disc top scrape against the two prongs that are supposed to hold the disc

they are great for at home storage

i buy them at 18 cents each shipped to the house for the double disc version

and they fit about 6 discs per inch of shelf space

however i dont ship in them

and im sure many will agree why

GOOD points made by all. isn't that what a discussion board is all about??

no sense in arguing the matter. i recieved ONE cracked dvd in a white sleeve ONCE! it happened ONCE out of 100. like i said fluke accident. the mail system can be nasty on damaging packages.

what ever works to get the discs there. a refreshing topic, insted of reading how someone was screwed in a trade
