I don't know if it's a DVD problem, but in the episode "Sergeant Emma", where Alice's Aunt Emma helps out when Alice goes on vacation, the final scene seems to be Censored.

When Alice returns home and has Aunt Emma's list, she wakes everyone up. Mike tells her "Alice, it's 6' o clock in the (pause) n morning.

It sounded like he said "F**king, and they cut it, you can even see his lips moving sort of. I don't know if it's a DVD error, or something, but I think they Censored it, because after the pause I heard sort of a "N" sound.

I saw it and I don't think it was the f-word his lips mouthed goddamn rather than the f-word. So he said "Alice It's 6 o clock in the *goddamn* morning"...so that's where the N sound comes in I guess so I believe that's the word.

I'm glad someone brought this up because it's something i remember hearing but never decided to mention it. It did sound as if he said F**king and a few others i've shown this scene to also thought the same. He was mighty mad in this scene so who knows!;)

It's fun to think what he could have said! omg: I watched the clip over and over and it seems they dubbed the entire line because he blew it or they changed the line later.

I watched the kids and no one reacted as if he swore. Damn!

could be an editing mistake...which was my first guess

When I watch the DVD it is clear that something was cut. I can't tell what he said but it is obvious that something is missing, d

I'll have to go back and watch this episode later.Would the network have let them use the word goddamn then?I remember CBS let Archie Bunker use it in one episode.

This is one of the many eternal Brady mysteries! There's a video on Youtube that discusses this very point, called "Does Mike Brady Swear?" Look it up to decide for yourself! I for one believe he said "gd", because when you look closely at Robert Reed's mouth, that's exactly what he appears to say. I'm glad they didn't let that word slide, because it would be highly unfitting for The Brady Bunch, as well as being just plain wrong!

You would think they would have yell'd CUT, and did a re-take. But maybe Robert was in one of his un-cooperative moods, and they just wanted to get the scene over with! That's my take on the situation.

I always thought he was yawning when he said it

I would have probably done the same thing, just let it slide to avoid having to deal with Robert Reed! I read in a Brady book one time that when they were filming the scene where Carol and Alice cook strawberry preserves for the charity auction, Reed was highly dissatisfied with the original line, "It smells like I've died and gone to strawberry heaven", because according to his Encyclopedia Brittanica, strawberries have no odor while cooking. I mean really, right?
