CRTC Issues Licenses for New Channels
The C.R.T.C. has issued new broadcast licenses for the following potential new specialty channels. TELETOON Rétro, TELETOON Retro, Vista The Virtual Window, D.I.Y. Television, The Cricket Channel, The PRIVATE Channel, PURE PLAY Clips Channel, Girls TV, ZTV, Discovery HD Theatre, Humour and Télé-Services.
Here are some details about each potential channel, please note that none of these channels have yet announced official launch dates and in some cases they may not launch at all.
TELETOON Rétro
An application by TELETOON for a broadcasting licence to operate a national, French-language Category 2 specialty programming undertaking to be known as TELETOON Rétro. A service that would consist of classic animation and classic animation-related programs from Canada and around the world, including animated movies, specials, series and shorts all of which commenced production at least ten years prior to their exhibition.
TELETOON Retro
An application by TELETOON for a broadcasting licence to operate a national, English-language Category 2 specialty programming undertaking to be known as TELETOON Retro. A service that would consist of classic animation and classic animation-related programs from Canada and around the world, including animated movies, specials, series and shorts, all of which commenced production at least ten years prior to their exhibition.
