what has he said about the nature of the cult he was involved in?
did he ever implicate anybody in the crimes?
by the way, his story of converting to Christ is pretty good.

To make a long story short in the latest paperback version of "The Ultimate Evil" by Maury Terry there is a portion at the end where Berkowitz basically confirms EVERYTHING Terry claims is true. He said there are still members of the cult he was involved in that are alive today however he won't disclose their names for he fears if he does they will seek retribution against his family.

Later.

Let me just change one word there: Berkowitz CLAIMS everything is true.

That's a pet peeve of mine, when reporters and broadcasters use confirm instead of claim. Confirm has an air of underlying truth while claim is exactly that, and it's proper in this case. I'm hardly taking David Berkowitz's word for anything.

i agree...
reminds me of something in a book i read once (whoever fights monsters). the author had examined berkowitz to determine whether he was competent to stand trial. during the interview, berkowitz kept referring to the usual "my neighbor's dog told me to do it" explanation.
the author stood up as if to leave and said something to the effect of "look, david, we both know dogs don't talk. when you're ready to quit wasting my time, we can continue."
according to the author, berkowitz became almost apologetic, saying that the news media always loved the dog story and trying to talk the author into staying.
i'm betting his serving in vietnam and taking acid of questionable quality and frequency had more to do with his mental problems than the influence of some cult.

Well thats subjective as is my take on believing what he says - Terry's book is pretty much spot on and he backs up a lot of his theories with facts - I think although Berkowitz is not the perfect source we know he was involved with the killings and I also recall that Stacy Moskowitz's family basically accepts Berkowitz's version of the killings as well if that carries any weight.

I think David Berkowitz is the perfect example of someone who has learned to seperate fact from fiction in his life and I think so many years down the line we are finally getting to correct story from him or at least the closest version we'll ever get to the truth being that nobody but Berkowitz has opened up about the killing.

Speaking of Berkowitz, the Smoking Gun has a recent mugshot of him. He hasn't aged well:
