I agree with you. It's still a good show, but Lennie (Jerry Orbach) was the heart & soul of the show. He was believable as a world-weary, cynical senior detective.

Who's your favorite of the senior detectives on "Law & Order?"

Toss up between Max Greevey (George Dzundza) and Lennie Briscoe (Jerry Orbach).

Paul Sorvino was good, and Dennis Farina is adequate, but Dzundza and Orbach projected a certain 'world-weariness' that fits with what I have seen in the few cops that I have known.
