Congrats on your M*A*S*H DVD purchase. They should provide you with many hours of enjoyment.
I'd say about five minutes of footage has been trimmed from each episode you see in syndication.
One of the things I love about watching the uncut eps on DVD is finding the footage that was removed - it could be an extra line or two of dialogue from a scene you've seen a million times, or sometimes it's an entire 2-3 minute scene that hasn't aired in decades.
Happy hunting!

Happy hunting! What about the Hallmark channel reruns. How many minutes of scenes get cut from the MASH episodes

I'd say Hallmark cuts about the same amount as any other syndicated version.

I think the exact amount of footage that's cut out varies, depending on who shows it. MASH (and all TV shows-even recent ones like SEINFELD) already have some stuff cut out by whoever owns them. Then whoever shows it can cut out a little more if they want.

I also LOVE watching MASH on DVD. Not only for the footage that I've either never seen, or haven't seen in YEARS, but the video and audieo (the picture & sound) are so clear; it's like you're back in the 70s watching it for the first time! And watching it without the laugh track is GREAT! (I wish they'd do that on all TV DVDs); it's almost like watching a different show!:) :)
