I was cycling through my tape collection the other day and I noticed that Wojo (Max Gail) wore a toupee!

I noticed that he wore one, b/c in the first two or sometimes three seasons that he had thinning red and/or sometimes brown hair, complete with a large bald spot in the back of his head.

Other times I noticed that, he had on a toupee that was sometimes colored red or darker than his sideburns.

Then, I saw a recent appearance of him on TV Land Confidential last week for the first time in the clear that he was mostly bald w/ gray thinning hairs on the sides.

Yes, that was pretty much common knowledge. Sort of like William Shatner's hairpieces through the years.

And also this can be also said for Jack Klugman, too!

This only became clear to me after I watched D.C. Cab, he was mostly bald w/gray thinning hair on the sides.

Yeah, on the episode "Jack Soo, A Retrospective" (1979) where they were all remembering through clips of the character/actor, Wojo appeared mostly bald without his hairpiece. I think he only wore it for the role of Wojo, who was suppose to be very "young" looking.

I just watched the "Graft" episode on the season 1 dvd, and even in that episode you can tell that there's a difference between the hair on the sides of his head and the hair down the center.

Yes, that was pretty much common knowledge. Sort of like William Shatner's hairpieces through the years. I remember when STAR TREK: GENERATIONS came out (that was the movie where Capt. Kirk died) someone I used to work with said "Maybe Capt. Picard should start wearing Shatners hair; now that he's done with it".

and also Larry Hagman, and Ted Danson.

Them, too my friend!

When did Hagman start wearing the "piece?"

Now that I've wacthed some eps. of IDoJ and that I noticed his hairline thinning out later on in IDoJ, something else told me that Hagman wore the pice on Dallas.

And after seeing the ep. "It's Lonely at the Top" on Cheers, and after seeing him on the 200th ep. that's when I knew Ted Danson wore the piece.

I don't know; I first heard about it in the mid-80s sometime.

I forgot to add; you can also add Jack Klugman to the list.

Klugman did say that he wore a toupee on a recent repeat of Password Plus before.

Allen Ludden asked him why he was wearing a hat all week, Jack then replied by saying that "I don't have my toupee!"

If you also noticed his appearances on Match Game, you can tell that his hairline looked parted in the front, meaning that Mr. Klugman was semi-bald!

I can also add John Astin on the list of celebs that wore a hairpiece/toupee.

I saw him on a ep. of PW+ and he was really bald!

And I saw him on Night Court and I think he def. wore a hairpiece!

Yeah, they asked Max to wear the hairpiece because they felt his bald spot spoiled the "macho young stud" type image they wanted for Wojo. They asked him to wear it for the Jack Soo Retrospective but he refused because he wanted to be himself. Good for him I say!
