View Full Version : This statement by Florida after James didn;t get the Job made no sense at all
TVFactFan 10-17-2005, 09:23 AM In last night's episode, After James explained why he didn't get the job, Florida says-"Well look at like this, atleast you are getting turndown by better Jobs"-???-LOL
HUH???? What the hell did that mean? That's like if Thelma applied to Harvard and Princeton and she says-"Well Thelma atleast you are getting rejected by better schools" Why is that something to feel good about? anyone agree that this statement was dumb? That statement is in the same category as Thelma's Statment when they were eating a nice dinner
"I feel sorry for rich people because you have to be poor to appreciate a meal like this"
Brian Damage 10-17-2005, 11:08 AM I don't think it was a dumb statement. She was trying to be supportive of James. She was looking at the positives. I guess in the past, he was being turned down for menial jobs, but now he was being turned down for Foreman jobs, meaning that he was moving up, not down.

But it was still a rejection whether it was a crappy or good job. So if a guy gets rejected by unattractive women and then starts getting turned down by women who look like Halle Berry, Angleine jolie, and Eva Longoria, should he be told-"well atleast you are getting turned down by good looking women now" How would that make him feel better if it's still a rejection?-lol

Being supportive would have been saying something like-"Well I'm sure there will be other chances for you to get the job you want" Not-Well atleast a GOOD JOB turned you down-lol
Brian Damage 10-17-2005, 11:32 AM She was just trying to put a positive spin on things. I found nothing really wrong with it.

If I was james i would have cussed her the hell out-lol I would have said-"Look this is not the time for stupid statements"
Brian Damage 10-17-2005, 11:37 AM I'm sure James has heard stuff like "better luck next time," Florida was trying to boost his ego.

I agree with you Retro. That was a dumb statement by Florida. Getting turned down for a job whether its a good paying job or a low paying job is still heartbreaking...a job is a job...high pay or low pay. No one wants to be rejected for a job or anything else for that matter and as far as Thelmas STUPID statement...I feel sorry for rich people..you gotta be poor to appreciate a meal like this" I couldnt believe that mess came out of her mouth. I dont give a damn about appreciating some meal. A meal is a meal. It will all taste the same whether youre rich, poor or in between.

Exactly, A job rejection is ANNOYING especially when u have to eat.
craftman 10-17-2005, 10:00 PM Let me get in on this....
Number one, Flo's statement was funny. How are you ever gonna move up if you don't get a CHANCE at a better job. Her point was, he had this chance at a better job, it didn't work out, so you'll get another chance at a better job...am I right people?
Number two, Thelma's statement was even funnier. A good meal is like hitting the lottery for the Evans. They don't have great meals too often, so they were happy to get a special treat. If a millionaire hit the lottery for $2500, they'd probably use that to dust off there millions cause it means nothing to them. They just can't appriciate something that they have at their disposal.

I totally agree, I think it would have hurt James more if he would have gotten turned down for a job washing floors. So I got the message that Florida was was making.
And like you said, they didn't get a chance to eat a great meal alot. When they had beef it was a special deal for them, since they ate chicken and greens and cornbread all the time.

You know what, that's even a better point that it might have hurt James more if he didn't get a job washing floors. When I was out of work for six months, I started getting desperate and applied at a dog kennel cleaning up after dogs. I didn't even get THAT job, so how you think I felt when I wasn't good enough to clean up dog crap. HA HA.

I get the message Flo was sending, maybe it didn't sound good with the words, but sometimes the message is conveyed regardless of the words. I get what u are saying Craftman. That's so true. Imagine being turned down for "menial" jobs. Menial meaning a job that you are way too qualified for, yet for whatever reason, you are not wanted.

Yeah that can be depressing when your looking for work and you know you're qualified and they just won't hire you. That would have drove me crazy knowing for 6 months that I could do the work and no one would give me the chance. Plus sitting home every day would make me go stir crazy.
So know you can see why James was always pissed off when he didn't get a job, especially when they don't give you a chance.

Well James didn;t help his chances by saying to the job interviewer-"When Do I start" before being offered the job-lol

I KNOW!!!!! I hate that. I would never jump the gun or ASSUME I am getting a job, much less say it out loud like that. HOW STUPID!!!!! He can be eager, but don't ruin any chances by showing your potential employer that you are one anxious person with loose lips!!!!! duh

I always took it as if James was kidding.
