Comic actor Whitman Mayo died of a heart attack on May 22, 2001. He had been hospitalized in an Atlanta hospital for two weeks for treatment of a hernia. Mayo will be best remembered as Fred Sanford's lovable friend Grady Wilson in the long-running sitcom Sanford and Son, and in two short-lived spinoffs. He was 70 years old.

Thank you for informing us about Mr.Mayo we are going to miss him.
Oh, how sad I feel now. Mr. Mayo was a great actor and will be truly missed. Hopefully someone will join us in the "role play" and play "grady" to help keep Mr. Mayo's memories alive, and will not be forgotten.
Thanks.

Yeah i found out he passed away. Do ya'll remember seeing him in the movie Boyz N The Hood? He had a very small part when Larry Fishburne was schooling the people in the hood about housing property & he said why do u think there is a liquor store on every corner in our neighborhoods? I'll tell u why, they want us to kill ourselves, u go over to Beverly Hills u don't see that ****. He also said who are these fools out here dying on the street every night & Whitman pointed at the people who came over there to listen to Larry's speech. He was hilarious as Grady.
