I recall when I got my very first record player. It was at Xmas time. YES, I said record player! LOL
I was 9 years old and was sooooo excited. I went out and bought alot of albums so I could play them over and over.

Christmas 1979 I received a Springer Spaniel puppy from my dad. I was only seven years old and was really unable to handle him though. Good thing I had my brothers to help me.

My large family hadn't much money but I had my heart set on a fashion doll with wardrobe when I was about 10 that I saw in a catalog(circa 1960) and I actually got it for Christmas! I will never forget that! She was so beautiful! Ah...................:happyface

isn't that nice? beautiful story...funny how we remember things forever.

Now, this is really funny but on my 7th birthday(1957) I wanted a potholder maker (a metal frame to interweave pre -fab fabric) more than anything in the world and I got it! I had a birthday party with all of my school friends and I remember that after I opened my pot holder maker I was sitting by myself in my Mom's bedroom trying it out while all my guests were outdoors playing. My Mom told me to go outside and play with them. I just wanted to make a potholder!:lol: But of course I obeyed her and joined in the party games. :lol:

The only thing I can really remember looking back on is a Batman doll my Dad bought me. I was pretty spoiled as a kid when it came to Christmas and my birthday [or any other day :lol:], but my mother always bought them for me. She loved surprising me. So when my Dad would bring me home something, it meant a lot. My mother did the materialistic spoiling and my Dad was the one who came to all the school functions, football games to watch me cheer, etc., so it means a bit more. Now if I want something I gotta buy it myself :lol:.

you know what? on my 7th birthday I received a gift, i can't recall the name, but it was this thing to make purses. It was given to me by a classmate named David. I had a huge party. It was my first party after my mom had died, so my older sister made this huge party for me. Anyways, this thing, it was weird, it had to be plugged in. It was a huge grey looking griddle looking thing with deep squares. You would have to put this plastic goo or something in each square and it would heat up, then when the squares were done "cooking" you would take all the squares and somehow put them together to make a purse. You know, I never made one damn purse outta that. I think I made a mess!!!! I wish I knew what that toy was called.

Can't help you there! But really, things were so sexist back then! Although we didn't know it!:lol: One Christmas I got a toy ironing board and iron. and a mini sweeper. Whoa! :lol: Well, I thought it was great!:crazy: :lol: And it was to a child's mind:lol:

For my fifth birthday my dad bought me a goldfish. It was my first pet, so that is a gift that has always held a special place in my heart.
