I personally prefer the younger "militant midget" Michael.

I liked younger militant midget Michael. He had a purpose, to spread some knowledge.

The younger Michael was AWESOME. He helped round out the family. You had James, the rock of the family, Florida the Godly woman of faith, J.J. the womanizing, street-wise ar-teest, Thelma the boy crazy one, and Michael who was socially aware, militant, and very involved in the politics of moving black people forward. It was a nice ensemble the first and 2nd season before it slipped into The J.J. Show circa season 3.

I liked the younger Michael version rather than the older. I couldn't understand why they changed his character, they missed lots of storyline opportunities.

I liked both, everyone has to grow up sometime. It seems like (To me anyway) that younger Michael got more screen time, and the old Michael was hardly home or didn't get as much screen time. It's like the last few season became the JJ show.

In Michael and the Warlords you saw a tougher side of Michael, in Breaker Breaker you saw a timid side of Michael, In Michael's Great Romance you saw a shy side. I didn't say that he brought a lot to the table in the latter seasons of Good Times. In season's 4-6 he didn't stand out that much but he had his moments, Thelma didn't stand out either.

Like I said in the latter seasons of Good Times it became The JJ show. JJ had more story lines then anyone especially in season 5 and 6.

I always like the older Michael, though the younger one was good character. He still was principled, just got older.
