I was wondering if anyone knew how to use a debit card? Because iam thinking about getting one on Sat.

Yep thats it, it's an ATM card, but you can use it anwhere they take credit cards (at least the one on your card be it visa or mastercard) and it takes the money out of your checking acct. Basically, it's so you don't have to carry cash everywhere.

Nope, it will have its own 16 digit number, just like a credit card.

Just don't overdraft your account and you'll be fine.

Yup. Applies to debit cards too. If you write a check or use your debit card, EVERYTHING that is withdrawn or put in goes into the register in your checkbook.

One more quick question,Do you get the debit card right away or do you have to wait in the mail?

You put your atm in the machine, then enter your Pin number that the bank gives you... then enter the amount you want and his Enter.. then it would say do u want another withdrawl? Hit NO unless you want more money taken out. Good Luck.

wait for it in the mail. B/c thats what I did! ...

You have to wait for your card to come in the mail, that takes a bit. Then you gotta wait another 7-10 days to get your PIN#. Then you have to go to an ATM and activate your PIN#. To activate, just check your balance or whatever. Dont forget-- some ATM not affiliated with your bank have a surcharge for using their ATM. Anywhere from $1.50-$5. Try and look for ATMs that are SUM because they dont charge you.

Also, if youre going to get a debit card, make sure to make it a VisaChecking Card or Mastercard. If you get a regular ATM/Debit card without the Visa/MC logo, it cant be used as credit. Also, when using your card as a 'credit' card, no PIN# is required. I always make sure to use my card as credit when I go places because I dont get charged for using it as a credit. For a credit you have to sign it.

I use my Visa debit card everywhere...restaurants, the grocery store, CVS. If I need cash back, I get it at checkout. I love it. I've had the same pin number for 15 years.

Debit cards really are a lifesaver sometimes; as long as you have the money in your checking account and don't overdraw, you should be fine. One time I was at the movies with my friends and only had about $10 with me. Well, of course tickets alone cost nearly $10 and I was really thirsty, so thank god I had my trusty debit card with me so I could pay for the ticket out of my account and use the cash on me for a drink and some popcorn :)
