View Full Version : Did they ever catch this guy?!?! Frischman_Fan 10-12-2005, 06:29 PM Did they ever catch the guy who raped and killed the 4 year old girl who went missing for like 2 whole months?? Kane 10-12-2005, 07:56 PM What specific case are you referring to? If it happens to be Rachael Runyan (the Utah girl who was abducted and murdered at the age of 3 in 1982), then the answer is no. zakattak3 11-08-2005, 05:07 PM I was just going to ask the same exact question since the episode just played today. justins5256 11-08-2005, 05:34 PM I was just going to ask the same exact question since the episode just played today. Rachel Runyon? No, it hasn't been solved to my knowledge. A couple years back, someone posted a few links pertaining to the case. Try doing a search, and you might be able to find them. Kane 11-08-2005, 08:21 PM If the Rachael Runyan murder was the case you were referring to, the girl was only missing for three weeks before her body was found (not two months). By the way, Rachael's mother, Elaine Runyan-Simmons, became active in getting Utah to create the "Rachael Alert" system. It went into operation in 2002, and its subsequent success resulted in the presentation of "Rachael Runyan Awards". The awards are given to those who helped in the safe recovery of missing children. Utah's "Rachael Alert" system was eventually renamed "Amber Alert" in order to dispel any confusion with the National Amber Alert. It goes without saying that Elaine Runyan-Simmons is another person who turned a personal tragedy into something productive. In additon, she believes that Rachael would have been found alive if the media had aired the news about her abduction sooner. Check out the following link (which includes the same picture of Rachael that was shown in the UM segment): http://utahchiefs.org/rachel_alert.htm ranion 06-27-2006, 06:37 PM I watched this case the other day and, although the segment was short, it was probably one of the most disturbing I have seen on UM. I feel very badly for the family. Anyone know of any updates? LooksLikeCRicci 06-28-2006, 12:51 AM No, to the best of my knowledge, the case is still unsolved. They're still looking for a copy of the "snuff film" that Rachel may have been in. I"m not sure if I buy this theory... wouldn't the video have surfaced by now? A snuff film is often associated with pornography. It is a film that supposedly features an actual killing. One of the detectives investigating Rachel's murder admittedly received information from sources claiming that Rachel was part of a snuff film. But as far as I know, the claim has never been verified. Gangreen 06-28-2006, 03:06 PM I know what a snuff film, just wanted to know about that bit of information. Thanks Kane 06-28-2006, 03:55 PM I know what a snuff film, just wanted to know about that bit of information. Thanks You're welcome. By the way, when you asked for an explanation, it seemed like a broad request. Don't worry, I'm not trying to fault you. It's just that I wasn't sure whether you meant an explanation for what a snuff film was, or an explanation of how Rachel's murder might have involved a snuff film. So I gave two separate answers to the general question. DALLASTEXAN!! 09-05-2011, 12:47 PM You're welcome. By the way, when you asked for an explanation, it seemed like a broad request. I don't recall ever seeing this episode until today. what a sad story. people who do this are going to get it in return one way or another. justins5256 09-05-2011, 03:09 PM The more I think about this case, I find it interesting that the police actually promoted the snuff film rumor. The UM report was partly an attempt to find this film. I've always thought the "official" position, at least as far as the FBI is/was concerned, is that snuff films do not exist. It's impossible to prove a negative obviously, but a bonafide example of such a film has yet to be produced, according to the FBI. Orange_Sody_84 09-06-2011, 06:35 PM Actually... there is something that is pretty close to the definiton of a "Snuff" film. the case of the Dnepropetrovsk Maniacs. these sick *beeps* murdered 21 people in the Ukraine. they videotaped some of the murders. one of the videos was leaked to the net. these psychos did it for kicks and attention. Ugh... sick freaks... I'm not gonna write anymore about these low lifes. the poor victims were tortured and murdered brutally. but if anyone wants to research them be my guest. :/ DALLASTEXAN!! 09-10-2011, 11:11 AM Actually... there is something that is pretty close to the definiton of a "Snuff" film. the case of the Dnepropetrovsk Maniacs. these sick *beeps* murdered 21 people in the Ukraine. they videotaped some of the murders. one of the videos was leaked to the net. these psychos did it for kicks and attention. It makes me sick to even think about these cases. it makes me sick to my stomach. |
