View Full Version : I can understand why Keith was pissed off at Thelma
TVFactFan 10-11-2005, 11:22 AM Why would Thelma invite Keith's friend to dinner, the guy who was playing for the Dolphins and had everything going well for him? She knew that Keith was job hunting and still depressed over not being able to play football so did he really need to see his friend at that Time in his life? Stupid move by Thelma

So jealousy? Keith wasn't mad at Thelma he was pissed because he was looking for work and not getting anywhere. And the fact that Thelma called his friends without even asking Keith, I think that's why he was pissed at Thelma, the fact that she didn't even ask him. And plus I think he was a little embarrassed that he went from having a great apartment great career to living in the projects and looking for work.

That's why i said Thelma had no business calling him
Ireneparalegal 10-11-2005, 08:52 PM Thelma only called him cuz Keith had been having periods of depression/mood swings, and she noticed when he spoke with his friend, it brought his spirits up. She was hoping that bringing him to dinner would do Keith even more good. I, myself, wouldn't have done that. If Keith had told me not to call him, then I would have left well enough alone. I still wouldn't have called him, even if I was told not to. Thelma did it for the reason I just posted.
craftman 10-11-2005, 10:08 PM Thelma did the right thing, she couldn't help it if keith was a buster and jealous of someone else's good fortune. What kind of friend is that to be jealous of your friend cause he got it going on. With friends like that who needs...........you know the rest. ;) lol

I agree, that was a silly reason for Keith to get jealous.

I don't think it was a silly reason for Keith to be jealous. He saw what he could have had through his friend. Any normal person would have been a little jealous.

I don't think Thelma should have called Keith's friends with out his permission. You have to realize that when Keith talked to his friend on the phone, he had been drinking. And plus it's only polite to ask your mate before you invite their friend over, not your friend, but their friend. So yeah I think that she did the wrong thing in calling.

I don't think it was jealousy, Keith was just trying to work things out in his own life and didn't need to be reminded of what his life could have been at that point in his life.

Did you also think it was wrong for Thelma and Flo to invite James' daddy over without telling him. They thought James' would be happy, how did they know he didn't want to see him? Also should Flo have invited Ray to the birthday party without telling Willona? How did she know Willona was still gonna hate him? Also should Flo have invited Henrietta over without asking JJ, how did they know she was pregnant? Does this last one make sense?.....Anyways...
Just throwing some stuff at you.:)

Help me out people.... she said something like "stop feeling sorry for yourself and get out there and handle yo bidness" or something.......sorry I should have look it up before I said something.:o
Irene, you out there, I need your memory.

Hi Craftman, are you referring to her statements in the bedroom after Keith slapped her?

I think so, i can't remember. I'm not talking about when he said "You don't understand" and Thelma said, " and a bottle of fermented potatoes understands?" And I know you liked when Thelma said "EVERYTHING", not that. I think I'll check my tape tomorrow.

I never said it was right for Florida to invite Heneritta over, and when she invited Ray over for Willona B-day party. And Thelma was the one who invited James father over, Florida had nothing to do with it. I think you should ask the other person before you start inviting people over who they might have conflict with.

Oh OK, it might spoil the intended surprise if you tell them, but I got you.;)
TVFactFan 10-12-2005, 10:23 AM Anyone else get a chuckle when keith looked like he was going to stop laughing after he found out his friend married the ugly women and started laughing again?-lol I think Keith was a great Addition to the show.

I was just going to mention that scene.
Ireneparalegal 10-12-2005, 01:35 PM did anyone find it odd that no one ran into the room after Keith threw the bottle of fermented potatos at the door? If I heard something like that knowing my sister was in there, I would have gone in there (very carefully of course) to check on her, especially after he had already slapped her!

Well since the walls are so thin Michael and JJ prob heard the whole conversation. You know whenever anyone had a fight in that house people always had their ears up to the door.

Yep, true very true...those walls looked like concrete, but they were so damn thin...LOL
sdb7373 10-12-2005, 06:12 PM Television Writing has changed so much over the past 25-30 years. A lot of the stuff that happened on GT would have been written with much more common sense than it was back then. There were too many missing links on that show. A lot of it didnt make sense.
Brieannas21 10-12-2005, 07:09 PM Yep, true very true...those walls looked like concrete, but they were so damn thin...LOL
LOL you know concrete makes sound bounce, and plus they had those cheap doors.
Ireneparalegal 10-12-2005, 09:27 PM oh yeah, and whenever someone slammed a door real hard, you can see some walls moving...LOL

I checked my tape and the convo' went down like this....
Thelma: You wanna play football? Then get out there and play!
Keith: I can't!
Thelma: Then try something else.
Keith: I did!
Thelma: THEN TRY AGAIN!
Keith: What the hell do you want from me!
Thelma: EVERYTHING!!!
...............
Thelma: You're still my husband, whether your playing in the Superbowl or driving people to it!

Yeah I laughed at that too, even though I still didn't like Keith.

This was actually a funny statement by Thelma.-lol Right in the category with Florida's Cold Grits Statement

Did you hear that roar of applause from the audience!?(After she yelled, 'Everything"!) Earth-shattering!:)

Yes it was. To me, that was not a funny statement out of Thelma's mouth as Solomon stated, but a powerful statement...a man marries a woman...there is 100 percent that each should give to one another, not 50/50 or any other figure. If a man doesn't know what to give in a relationship, then he has no business being in a relationship or a marriage.

I love the last line - Thelma loved him no matter what his job was, and that was that. While she forgave him, I'm glad she hit him back at the end of the episode - back to even.
