View Full Version : Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes Expecting
Janice 10-05-2005, 04:54 PM NEW YORK (AP) - Let the couch-jumping begin: Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes are expecting a baby. Holmes' pregnancy was reported Wednesday by People magazine. The couple have been dating since April and became engaged in June.
"Tom and Katie are very excited, and the entire family is very excited," Lee Anne DeVette, Cruise's spokeswoman, told People. It would be Holmes' first child. Cruise has two children, Connor, 10, and Isabella, 12, from his marriage to Nicole Kidman.
No further details were available. Devette added that Holmes, 26, "has never felt better." Cruise, 43, is now shooting "Mission" Impossible 3."
Just when I thought we were done hearing about them...

Tom Cruise Jumps on Couch As an Expectant Father
In news of the mundane, couch-jumper Tom Cruise has announced that he is expecting a baby with his fiancée, Katie Holmes. It will the first child of Ms. Holmes and the perennially youthful Top Gun star, who has two children with ex-wife and Chanel mannequin Nicole Kidman. Cruise took quite a bit of flack earlier in the summer, after chewing the scenery across four continents with the blushing Holmes, 26, and generally making a spectacle of himself, mugging for the camera at every opportunity and professing his undying love for the Dawson Creek actress, who always looked like a deer caught in approaching headlights when in public with Mr. Hollywood. Tongues wagged that the two were in cahoots to promote their summer blockbuster movies, Cruise in War of the Worlds and Holmes in the latest Batman franchise. Cruise proposed to Holmes atop the Eiffel Tower in Paris (that’s never been done before!) while they were both in the City of Lights to promote their respective movies, thus guaranteeing loads of publicity and a voracious media frenzy. The news became even more bizarre when Mr. Cruise, a devout Scientologist (It’s Not a Cult!), attacked former Calvin Klein model (Nothing comes between me and my Calvins) and Blue Lagoon survivor Brooke Shields for seeking medical attention for her post-partum depression following the birth of her daughter two years ago. He then got sassy with Today anchor and all-around nice guy Matt Lauer when asked to explain his statements. My take is the guy is definitely going through a Mid-Life Crisis at the tender young age of forty-three. Certainly, it happens to the best of them. But, as Whitesnake asked, Is This Love? If so, then keep it nice and quiet and to yourself, just like your Mother and Father taught you. There is such a thing as too much information, you know?

Tom Cruise Jumps on Couch As an Expectant Father
In news of the mundane, couch-jumper Tom Cruise has announced that he is expecting a baby with his fiancée, Katie Holmes. It will the first biological child of the perennially youthful Top Gun star, who has two adopted children with ex-wife and Chanel mannequin Nicole Kidman. Hollywood. I don't like the sentence "first biological child". Being an adopted child, it doesn't matter whether his children are his biologically or not. They are his children. So, this will be Tom's THIRD CHILD. No ifs, and or buts abt it.

Well, I don't think there's anything wrong with that. I believe to mention that this is first biological child is an important point because even though he's been married twice before he is married to Katie, he's never had any biological children. At least the article mentioned that he did have children at all.

It may be cool with you. Any adopted person would find offense to that. I did. My late father severed ties with some people who referred to me, my brother and my sister as "adopted children" or any reference to the fact that we were not "his children". We were loved more than any child can imagine. I love my father and mother for giving my sister and brother and I, a wonderful, beautiful and nurturing life. I am always asked if I want to find "my real parents". Hell no. My real parents are the ones who adopted me. The ones who took care of me. My parents are the ones who sat up with me when I was sick, etc. Tom is a wonderful person for looking into adoption to begin with, regardless of his reasons. He is now having a third child, and I think anyone who knows Tom's personal life will know abt his other two children. That would be like pointing out to a person who has had two "handicapped" children they are now expecting a "healthy child" this time. So sad. All children are loved regardless of their parentage.
80sTrivia 10-05-2005, 09:18 PM A friend of mine commented that she hopes Katie has a healthy pregnancy, and that she doesn't suffer from post-partum depression, as that would be highly ironic!!!

yes, Tom is having a third child... but the fact is that it's his first "biological child", there is not if ands or buts about it. Now in that sentence did I say anything about having a first "real child" or a first "child he can love." No. I think you are over reacting... refering to someone as "biological" is like referring to someone as "black or white", it's not meant to offend, it's just how it is. If I said you were white/black and you were white/black you wouldn't call me racist, would you?

dawsongirl 10-07-2005, 01:55 AM from IMDB:
Former Taxi star Tony Danza is far from impressed with Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes' baby news - because they're having a child out of wedlock. The Hollywood couple, who became engaged in June after two months of dating, announced they're expecting their first child together on Wednesday. Danza is bemused by Cruise's behavior and believes his recent attack on Brooke Shields' decision to take medication for her postpartum depression was hypocritical considering the Mission: Impossible star is now living his own life with questionable morality. The talk show host says, "I'm a little upset about this. Here's a guy out there lecturing people about drugs, but out of wedlock births don't seem to bother him. He's never (appearing on) my show, so it doesn't matter." He adds, "I'm happy for them, but we're going to send them to Maury Povich's show for a DNA test."
The Chauffeur 10-07-2005, 06:11 PM K, this is messed up:rolleyes:
Silent Scientology birth for Tom and Katie?
While Hollywood awaits a due date for Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes' baby, one thing is already a known fact — when the baby does arrive, Scientology will play a major role.
Tom and Katie are likely to follow the church's "silent birth" guidelines during delivery, which means no music and no talking during the birth, which also means no screaming during the pains of labor.
The doctrine also states that newborns cannot be poked or prodded for medical tests or even spoken to for the first seven days of their lives, believing that babies go through so much pain during the birth, they shouldn't have to experience any further discomfort or sensory experience that could return later in life to haunt them.

And what about painkillers for Katie? Perhaps an epidural, which numbs the mom from the waist down?
Well, fellow Scientologist Kelly Preston told Redbook magazine she tried to follow the church's guidelines during the birth of her daughter Ella Bleu, but after 13 hours of at home labor, she changed her mind saying, "It got hard core at the end because she was so big" and eventually told husband John Travolta to "Throw me in the car. I want an epidural!"
But unfortunately for Kelly, it was too late. Due to traffic, there wasn't enough time to get to the hospital.
Cruise's spokesperson, Lee Anne Devette, confirmed Holmes's pregnancy to Access Hollywood on Wednesday.
Cruise, who has two children, Connor, 10, and Isabella, 12, with ex-wife Nicole Kidman, began dating Holmes in mid-April.
He proposed to her at the Eiffel Tower in Paris in June.
Devette would not comment on the baby's gender or say how far along the pregnancy is.
The couple has yet to set a wedding date.

That is so ridiculous. Isn't all that so-called evil sensory experience what acclimates the baby to the world?? Gawd.
And gee...can they at least take the mucus out of the baby's throat after the birth? And I want to know who's going to tell the baby it can't cry. Shhhhhh....total silence.

I wonder how high their death tolls are among babies who are born under this method. They kinda need to be poked and prodded concidering they are the most susceptible to infections especially in that first week.
