in the latest TV Guide 10-9/16-2005 there is a "Then & Now" section with flashbacks of the decades and here is the Munsters shot. I've seen it before but here it is larger.

Based on Grandpa's no widows peak and normal nose and Lily's pronounced white streak, this promo shot must have been made either during "Munster's Masquerade" or "Pikes Peak", but why on a Harley? Somehow it just doesn't fit/look right for the style of the show! What were they trying to promote? The Harley? or just an interesting contrast of a modern day (then of course) newest motorcycle/technology with a throw-back type of family..the Munsters!

There's a possibility that this was a black and white photo that was colorized because of the lack of makeup. I've seen a similar photo of them on a motorcycle that was a sample picture on Ebay for the 1964 TV Guide Fall Preview issue and they had the makeup in that photo.

I've seen that photo before. I believe the reason they are all on the bike, was to promote The Munsters in 1964, and also promote Harleys.

In the original photo, The Munsters look almost purple, not flesh tone.

I think it's a been taken from a dodgy transparency - even with proper storage, because of chemical instabilites in the dye, old slides often develop redness as time goes on.

The site name is on pictures I have altered, colorized or sometimes that I'm just hosting. I put the site name on them for no other reason than this: A few years ago I bought a picture CD on Ebay that was supposed to have hundreds of rare pictures of the Koach and Dragula, with a few Batmobile pictures thrown in, too. I got the disk and it was all the pictures from my site and the Batmobile shots were from my friend Eric's site, 1966batmobile.com (http://www.1966batmobile.com). The seller didn't even bother to change the image names. Since then if I put up an image, I'm putting the site name on it. I spend time image editing and I'm just trying to sort of brand the work I put into it. If you think that's self promotion, all I can say is I'm sorry you feel that way.

BTW: Just so you know, I make nothing off the MK website. In fact I lose money on it each month. I do it because I like it myself. It's a labor of love, all the way. I'm thankful for people like AP, who come up with these things for me. He's always coming across cool stuff, as in this case, too. (Thanks, AP!)

Good idea, Dirtprod. Just one flaw, what's to stop the person from airbrushing away your website name?

At least that would involve a little effort on their part. Like I said they didn't even change the file names. They just saved all the pictures and burned them onto a disk to sell. Thanks for understanding...
