I don't understand why people like trading TV retail DVD sets. It's not like watching TV at all. It's like watching movies. Wouldnt you rather have the old commercials there and the old station idenification marks in the corner of the screen? Well maybe not. Maybe I'm just too weird to grasp it.

I don't get it either. You can go to the store and get the retail ones but its almost impossible to find stuff not on retail DVD's.

From what I have experienced, and I know I'm gonna get blasted for this, but this is the difference between good traders and bad traders. All of the people i have had problems with are people that mainly trade retail copies of things. They are people that are out here to save money. The people that are on here trying to find shows not avalible retail seem to be the people that are in this as a hobby and because they really enjoy watching the shows, not just to build thier collections. Blast me all you want but that is what I've experienced.

i realize you are just speaking in generalization, but i trade retail, and i prefer to trade retial usually, which is why i don't really post to trade on this board that often. but anybody that i have traded with on this board, i'm pretty sure will say i'm a good trader. i would think the bad traders would say that they have a big list of pretty much anything you are looking for.

and i realize retail you can get from the store, but i like to obtain movies. and if i were to go out and buy all the movies i want, it would cost quite a bit of money. so i rent and burn, or trade.

netflix is a very reasonable source

the 8 at a time plan is about $ 50 a month with tax

i was on it for about 6 months when i fooled with retails

i averaged 45 discs per month, it cost about $ 1.40 per disc counting the rental and the blank

i stopped retail trades for a variety of reasons, but the main reason was that i got probably about 1/3 of the discs in trade that were no good,

i ended up getting them from netflix anyhow, so i stopped the retail trades and used netflix as the source for new things

I trade for retail and nonretail dvd's. It doesnt matter to me if it's show I want. I dont see why it's such a big issue because I own about 80 something retail sets not too mention several non retail sets. Theres several sets out there that they want 50-70 something dollars for and no one that lives alone and tons of bills to pay can afford to pay that. Ive bought alot of sets as Ive said but Im also in debt to credit card companies and Id much prefer to trade for a set than drain my wallet for a set. And nowadays they dont even put many extras on the sets if any. Funny thing is they rip us off and we are just too blind to see it.Look back a few years ago before TV on DVD became the rage. The sets that did come out had tons of extras and alot of them actually didnt suck. Now all they do is toss a ton of stupid stuff no one would even want as Ive said if they put anything at all. Now to make it worse they sell syndicated shows instead of the complete aired episodes. An example is ALF-Season 1. That ridiculous. So to conclude this I dont feel we are ripping them off at least anymore than they do us. Thats just a opinion. Some may agree, some may not. Just wanted to give my 2cents for my 15 minutes of fame. People trade the retail sets so they do not have to buy them. When a retail set comes out of something you have do you go out and buy every one? Probably not. No TV series sets I have include commercials. Its cool to look back at some old commercials sometimes but I don't want them when trying to watch a TV series.

No...I prefer no commercials. If they are there, fine, I can deal with it. But my preference is to see the show...not the commercials. JMO...YMMV.

I prefer shows with the commercials if they're from 1980 or earlier, but most traders don't like them so I go along with the peer pressure. :lol:
