......to act black. LOL I'm referring to last nights episode, "Michael's decision" When Michael wanted to move out and share an apartment with the white girl. The girl's parents came over to visit and they tried to hard with the ghetto lingo. It was a riot! The father kept saying, "Right On, mamma, and tell it like it is." He was way off on the brother hand shake too! He was like Hoppy from Sanford and Son.

Somebody posted a topic on how whites were portrayed as stupid on this show. I'm just pointing out how funny they were used to adapt to black culture.

How do you "act" black? Now the way he was trying to use slang, that made him and his wife look and sound really stupid. The exchange between him and Keith was funny to me, especially Keith when he started to use proper English.

Yep. so true. Those "whites" acted and talked the way they thought they should around black people. They had an assumption, they fell into a stereotype and it made them look stupid by how they acted. Another Norman Lear production!!! LOL

BTW, that actress was John Ritter's first wife.

It sure was. The guy who played her father was Officer Simpson on "Gimmie A Break!"

That's right. I was knocking my head trying to remember where I had seen him. It's been a long while since I have seen Gimme a Break.

I think that this was the funniest GT episode. I was going crazy and rollin' all over the place whenever the white couple were using "black" slang. That was the funniest thing ever. I've never laughed so hard after watching any GT episode.

They do the same thing with that moron police officer on "Sanford and Son". The black one is the smart one and the white one is the idiot.

I hated it when shows like this and Sanford and Son, etc. made caucasians look foolish, to me it was not funny at all..poor writing and and very unrealistic...I just do not see the humor any type of racial stereotyping.

If you ever get a chance to see an episode of Amos and Andy or Beulah, Now that's racial stereotyping.

The white couple on this episode should have took an ebonics class I suppose.

The way white folks are portrayed on this show you would think they should be the ones in the ghetto and that it is inexplicable how the black race isn't the most powerful, intelligent, race in the galaxy.

The white characters playing similar positions on GT are portrayed as complete morons.

To be fair they do portray some blacks as buffoons as well. But just about every white character is a complete moron.

I disagree. You had the white FBI agents, Michael's Roomate, the Police Officer when J.J was locked up, The Doctor when James thought he had hypertension. And many more

This is why I said "just about every" and NOT "every.

I disagree about the detective when JJ was in jail.

And many many more??? You just named all of them.
