TVFactFan 10-04-2005, 03:13 PM I found out that 4 of the season four episodes are syndicated versions. This is very disappointing because i never wanted this to happen to my favorite show. I can now see the frustration of other people when they are mad about the shows they love to watch. The only good thing is that my favorite episode of season 4 is not syndicated. That episode is "Florence's Union"

This is the Good Times board Solomon!
If it's just 4 episodes out of 23, then I'm not going to let that stop me from buying it next Tuesday. If it was all the episodes, then that would be different.

I just thought you were so upset about it that you were going to post it on every show's board.
jeffersonsfan 10-04-2005, 06:55 PM Where did you find that out? Why are they showed edited versions?
I just pre-ordered mine from Amazon. Oh well, at least it's only 4 and not all 26. Then I'd REALLY be angry.
jeffersonsfan 10-04-2005, 06:56 PM Oops. I mean, why are they releasing edited episodes at all?
jeffersonsfan 10-04-2005, 06:58 PM One question: which episodes are the syndicated versions?

Hey Retro, you just mentioned The Jeffersons is your favorite show. How come it isn't in your profile?

I'm working on it

I read in another post that it might be all three parts of George and Louise In A Bind and Jenny's Thesis.

You can check out the episode lengths in my post here. (http://www.sitcomsonline.com/boards/showthread.php?p=2739665)

I agree with you. I can understand where Solomon is coming from wanting complete episodes, but the few missing minutes wouldn't be enough to stop me from buying it (even though I didn't have to pay for mine ;) ).
Every Cosby episode: not buying.
A few minutes of a three-parter and a minute of another episode: I can accept.

Vashti1999, please don;t take this the wrong way because you are one of my favorite posters, but the statement you just made was kind of weird because you pretty much explained the obvious reason why you don;t have a problem with the 4 edited eps. You didn;t have to pay and since that's the case why would you be botthered? But in my case, why would i rush to but the release and it's not complete? So if I received it for free I wouldn;t be bothered by it like you. That's like me going to the DVD Board and saying
"Would you watch edited episodes on a DVD if you recieved it for Free?"
You can't tell me that wouldn;t be a silly post.
jeffersonsfan 10-05-2005, 10:09 AM I bought my set at Amazon at a bargain basement price - $20.96. That's about $7 per disc. Retail costs a bit more, plus sales tax.
I'm so glad I did that!

I said that I understood where you're coming from in that you wanted the episodes complete but I was also saying that I'd buy it regardless. For example, it could have been barwars getting it instead of me, so if I'd have to pay for it, the edits wouldn't bother me enough that I wouldn't get it. I like the show, and want all the seasons in my collection. If I have to accept a couple of edits to have season 4, then that's what I have to do. I would've still paid for Jeffersons season 4 next Tuesday knowing about the shortened episodes ahead of time. I understand the fact that you're bothered by it, I'm just saying for me, it would still be a purchase.

Well I will have to make a decision next week, Married With Children season 3 or the jeffersons season 4. It's not going to be both
Pavan 10-10-2005, 01:26 PM Scratch Jenny's Thesis. That is unedited at 25:15. So, the only edited ones are the three part retrospective episode at 22 min each.
Solomon, the set is worth buying now. The only edited episode is that clip show. Vashti, I double checked on your lengths, and I think you made a mistake on Jenny's Thesis, it is 25:15, not 22:15.

Ok well since that is the case I will go ahead and buy this week.
Pavan 10-10-2005, 01:48 PM The season premiere is for sure not cut. It is for some reason two episodes, when originally it was an hour, but nothing is cut out. 23:30 and 28:16 is almost 52:00, so not cut. And there is no "next time on Jeffersons" or "last time on The Jeffersons" since the show was an one hour episode.
The clip show is for sure cut.

You're right. I don't know how I screwed it up, but I just checked that episode again and it is 25:15. Guess I got my numbers mixed up.
Jinxey 10-11-2005, 01:25 PM OK folks.....will someone please tell me exactly what scenes are cut out of the three-parter???

No one will never know because no one on this board watched the three-parter when it aired on CBS in 1978

And if I did, I wouldn't remember what was or wasn't shown or cut anyway. Did you buy it, Retro?

I'm buying the DVD on Friday and watching it on Saturday.
Diavy 10-12-2005, 09:07 PM Hi all from Italy... as a Jefferson fan I usually read this board.
I understand your disappoint for cutting few minutes from 4 episodes of season 4, but I'd like to know WHY they have cut them!
Any ideas? :-)
PS: Why no extras in the dvd boxes?

Sometimes it's because the Original Version are in BAD SHAPE and can't be remastered. But in this case that's not it because all the other eps from season 4 were in good condition to be remastered. So It's a mystery why that three-parter is a syndicated version.
Diavy 10-16-2005, 07:41 PM And why no extras in all the seasons? It's unusual...
storrs19 10-17-2005, 12:31 AM Because Sony/Columbia-TriStar are too damn cheap to provide any extras:mad:
They have to be the WORST company about providing extras on their dvd's.
I would rank MPI and Shout Factory as the best.:)

How Sick
The Jeffersons Deserve better
I think we need to petition so it doesn't happen again

It was actually only 3 edited eps, which was the 3-parter-"George and Louise in a Bind" Jenny's Thesis was unedited.

Exactly...the episodes from Season 1 look wayyyy better than George and Louise In A Bind. Come to think of it, the quality of this three-parter is just as good (or you can say as bad) as the All In The Family DVDs. Do you think Sony might have been too lax to look for it???
It's a shame that episodes originally aired as an hour (or an hour and a half or two hours) show can't be shown that way on DVD instead of breaking them up.

It originally aired as a 90 minute special
