I am about sick of Allen Iverson and his thug mentality. He's 30 going on 13. What he doesn't understand is that he is a professional athlete. He should carry himself like a professional. How long do he thinks he's going to wear do rags and jeans? He acts like the league is trying to change HIM! That's not so. He needs to abide by the rules and stop being ghetto. Jordan and the rest of them never had a problem with dressing up. Just because he never dressed up in his entire life doesn't mean he got to bring that sh*it to the NBA! It is an honor to be drafted in the league, and this fool acts like a whining baby! Leave that sh*it at home!

Ain't nothing wrong with dressing up. I dress up for my job everyday. If it goes with the job then you have to deal with it. These are rules, these are suppose to be adult men, Iverson is acting like he's in grade school. For example, if you got a job in a corporate office, you're going to tell your boss you don't want to dress up because you want to wear what you want to?

I read a article in the newspaper Saturday about the NBA's dress code. A lot of players are upset about it including Rasheed Wallace, Richard Hamilton, Marcus Camby. Marcus said he can't afford a suit & tie even though he's making millions of dollars hahahahahahahahahahahaha. The person who wrote the article said that NBA players today wanna look like bums LOL.

NEW YORK (AP) -- There will be no more dress down days in the NBA.

The league announced in a memo to teams on Monday that a minimum dress code will go into effect at the start of the regular season on Nov. 1.

Players will be expected to wear business casual attire whenever they participate in team or league activities, including arriving at games, leaving games and making promotional or other appearances.


``If they're trying to change the image of league, that's cool,'' Suns forward Shawn Marion said.

While the league may be trying to present a better image to its corporate partners, some of its players fear that they may lose out on the core fan base.

``We don't really sell to big business,'' Suns guard Raja Bell said. ``We sell to kids and people who are into the NBA hip-hop world. They may be marketing to the wrong people with this.''

Some teams already have their own dress code in place.

Portland coach Nate McMillian is known for his strict rules, including bans on headbands and on cell phones on the team bus.

``It's important that the players understand they have to respect the game,'' McMillian said in August. ``They have to respect the league. And they have to respect the fans. You must be a professional at all times.''

Players will no longer be able to wear:

-- Sleveless shirts

-- Shorts

-- T-shirts

-- Chains, pendants, or medallions worn over the player's clothes.

-- Sunglasses while indoors

-- Headphones (other than on the team bus or plane, or in the team locker room).

Also jerseys and baseball caps will no longer be acceptable attire for postgame press conference.

``I think there needs to be some style improvement but at the same time it has to be with in reasons,'' Timberwolves forward Kevin Garnett said.

Players will also now be required to wear a sport coat on the bench when they are not in uniform. The NBA already requires its coaches to wear sport coats, dress shirts, slacks and shoes on the bench.

``I think it is appropriate, definitely, on the bench,'' Marion said. ``I think you should be in a nice shirt and slacks.''

However, the new dress code may not be practical for every NBA player, especially Garnett and his teammates who live in the cold Midwest.

``Not everyone lives in Minneapolis going out in 20 below,'' he said. ``Not everyone wants to be in a suit and jacket. Hopefully they can go 50-50.''

I think he's paid enough to "suffer" through wearing something non-fake gansterish while sitting in the stands for the 30 games he's bound to be injured for.

If there was some Dennis Rodman type character, that wanted to come to games wearing chaps, and a thong, I'd understand a dress code, but what's so unpresentable about hip hop clothes?? There's nothing disrespectful about that. It's disrespectful saying someone can't wear that in my view. Another reason this dress code is absurd, is because the teams play in some very hot places like Arizona, Florida, and Texas. Wearing suits in that kind of weather is like torture. If we have the freedom of speech in this Country, I think we should also have a freedom of dress as well. Of course there's exceptions to everything, but there is nothing at all wrong with the kinds of clothes that many players are currently wearing. I'm not thrilled about the dress code either but it's the rules. There are plenty of as****** who wear nice clothes and nice people who dress like thugs. Duncan being against it really shocked me. He was always a perfect gentleman and I thought he'd be cool with it. David Stern hasn't done **** in the 20 years he's been commissioner. He is the reason Artest never played after 11/19. Artest just defended himself just like the average Joe would have.

Duncan usually wore a collared shirt and slacks. I have no problem with them eliminating do-rags but there is no point in adding a sports coat, slacks, and shoes.

I get what Charles is saying but there's a big difference between how you should dress for a job interview for a regular job & how you should dress for playing professional sports. Spike Lee also spoke on the dress code. He said what are the basketball players wearing on draft day when they shake David Stern's hand. He said they're wearing suits. Then he said image is important & the NBA is trying to make a statement to the players with the dress code by saying we want the majority white fans to continue to come to the games so the league can show the fans that they have a good image instead of a negative image with the players dressing like thugs. Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban is against the dress code & he said the only reason why David Stern is changin the dress code is because tv ratings have been down & ticket sales have been down over the years with the league. I think Johnson was the guy who belted the security guy. Artest and O'Neal both punched the guys on the court. Artest punched out the first guy, he was wrestling the other guy and when they broke them apart, Jermaine came and knocked out the other guy. About 2 years ago, Artest kept getting flagrant foul after flagrant foul. At that point, the referees and the commissioner will go after you trying to nail your ass every chance they get. Kenyon Martin went through the same thing just like Raja Bell went through that process last year.
