Not really going to transcribe since there isn't much to transcribe

We see:

John and Gabby back together(briefly), and then he runs over to some other girl
Rex is dug up
Something involving Lynette and her boss again(boss says "This isn't about your kids again, is it?")
The Susan/Karl/Edie thing... Susan "she's not family", Karl "one day she could be" scene at church with them
The "thing"(I presume) attacks Betty... we see her fall backwards from that door to the basement with a tray of food.

From ABC:

"You'll Never Get Away from Me" - Bree's mother-in-law, Phyllis (guest star Shirley Knight), gets her in trouble with the law, Susan tries bravely to accept Edie's new role in Julie's life, Lynette's demanding boss (guest star Joely Fisher) makes her miss Parker's first day of kindergarten, and Gabrielle and John meet again, on "Desperate Housewives," SUNDAY, OCTOBER 9 (9:00-10:01 p.m., ET) on the ABC Television Network.

Felicia Tillman is listed as a guest star...

There's a little blurb in the new tvguide about this episode:

Mother-in-law jokes exist for a reason. Just ask Bree. But there's nothing funny about Rex's maddening mom(Shirley Knight), who's getting Bree into legal trouble. Meanwhile Susan tries to accept Edie's new role in Julie's life; Lynnette's boss from hell(Joely Fisher) makes her miss Parker's first day of kindergarten; and Gabrielle and John meet again. Look for Gabby to act like a grown-up. "We'll see definite growth in her character," says creator Marc Cherry. She'll start to realize the depth of her mistake with the affair." A pregnancy can do that to you.

Apparently... the suspicion will REALLY be on Bree, not George. Things don't go well at the lie detector test apparently.

and apparently John runs to some woman old enough to be his GRANDMOTHER. That boy...

ohno:

So so episode once again :( it was on the verge of being good but not quite...

Not much of a guest spot for my beloved Felicia and it looks like she won't be around for a little while. Damn!

If you're asking yourself "how did George pass the lie detector test?" it's kind of ironic that I found this out recently but a teacher told us that if you clench your butt cheeks together you can confuse the polygraph thing. George must've known that...

Hopefully next week's episode is on par with the first season's greatness. So far season two (in my opinion) has been just so so....

So-so episode? The episode was AWESOME. I liked last week, while there was mixed responses here, but this episode was much much better.

I agree, I enjoyed this episode. I think it's my favorite of the 3 so far this season.

Parker (was it?) his first day of kindergarden was in tonight's episode...the other kid just wasn't in tonight's episode.

I came in with low expectations and thought it was great. Last week I had high expectations and was disappointed a bit.

The person in the basement really looks like someone of the son's age. Looked far too young to be a husband.

I didn't think that person looked to be the son's age at all.

I thought the episode was okay. I wanted to know more the guy in the Applewhite's basement. I guess it was her husband.

I like the interaction between Gabby and Carlos. For some reason, they should work it out and stay together. I hope that she's really over John.

I thought Parker was older. I didn't expect him to be in kindergarten. I can see the twins entering kindergarten but not Parker. Parker looks like he should be in 1st or 2nd grade.

Yep... that was my 2nd thought after the age.

I really think he looked young. Unless he was wearing a lot of makeup he didn't look to be 45-ish which would be the age of the husband.

Page Kennedy is the actor we saw last night... graduated high school in 1987 which makes him 35-36 years old... little young to be the father of Matthew... unless....

Hmmmm...

Just a little DH scheduling news.

New episodes will air on 10/16 & 10/23 with repeats for both on Saturdays at 10pm. No repeat this Saturday for last night's episode.

On Sunday, October 30, ABC will reair the season premiere at 9pm. I guess so we don't get big gaps of repeats, they will air a repeat here and there. November will be all new for sweeps, of course.

That doesn't necessarily mean the character is 35-36 years old, but even if he is, if we assume the Matthew character is 18, Matthew could have been conceived when the other guy was 18. That's not out of the realm of possibility.

The Scavo's: Lynette couldn't take her 5 year old son to kindergarden and he wasn't happy about it. Awww. Lynette tried so hard! Her stupid boss I hate! That technology that Lynette used to see her son at school very smart.. The meeting with the coffee spilling on the boss. very funny.

Bree and the mother in-law: Bree really wanted her gone! ROFL ROFL. The mother inlaw does not like Bree! She hurt her on purpose! Then the cops dug Rex up?!!?!! Why didn't they call Bree to tell her that was going to happen? That's horrible. Bree wants to take a polygraph test. When the guy asked her are you inlove with George? I said no out loud but SHE DOES LOVE HIM!! WHAT?!!?! ROFL ROFL. He didn't realize she loves him.. That could happen.. Why Bree? Why do you love George?! No no no!

George: He took the polygraph test and when the guy asked him did you poison rex he said no and the test showed he was telling the truth. George actually thinks he didn't poison rex?!?!! UN FREAKIN BELIEVEABLE!!!!

Susan: Her parenting skills are getting worse!!! Making her TEENAGE daughter choose between her and Edie? Come on!!! I'm a little surprised that Edie was all church going and wanted to be in a church family thing. Did Susan manipulate Edie when they were in church? Edie does not know how to play the piano rofl. Susan you ought to be ashamed of yourself for the way you acted toward your daughter!

Gabby and John: John is nuts! John calls the woman he is sleeping with by her first name Joan but he still calls Gabby mrs solies? Does he not know gabby's first name? Then he says that he is inlove with Joan but then asks gabby do you want to get back together cus if you do I can break up with Joan.. Huh?!?!! Either he really doesn't know what love is or he is just trying to get gabby jealous by saying he loves joan.. Either way John is imature.

Gabby and Carlo: Wow at the end she apologied to him and she was sincere about it. Shocking! very impressive.

The applewhites: OH CRAP HE ESCAPED! The man that mrs applewhite had down the basement is out! AHHHH. Wait why isn't the son shooting him? He had the gun on him. He should have a silencer. Susan had to show up! Gee if you don't want anybody to know anything stop looking so suspecious..

AWESOME EPISODE.

Definitely the best episode of the new season. I was positive George would freak out if confronted with possibility of poisoning in Rex's death and was really surprised he went through with the telegraph. I was surprised again when he lied at the examination -- and PASSED! The voiceover and fade to black were awesome; my sister and I both clapped.

This eliminated the way I thought this storyline would play out. I pictured Bree being suspected of murder because of the elevated potassium levels and that George would NOT come to her rescue -- at first. I expected that George and Bree would resume their relationship, and that with time, Andrew would learn somehow that George was responsible. Remember Andrew pledged to the priest during one epsiode late in the first season that he would destroy his mother -- and I suspected the news that her new lover killed her husband and the father of her children would be just the destruction mechanism Andrew had looked for to send Bree reeling toward a nervous breakdown.

(A word about my sister: SHE is the one that turned me on to Desperate Housewives in May, when the pilot re-aired; I had not seen the show prior to that but it didn't take me long to get addicted. It was about the time Lynette walked through the pool at the wake in her dress and heels to grab her kids at the funeral reception during the pilot that DH became the first network show I was addicted to since "Murder, She Wrote" went off the air. This 3rd episode of the new season marked the first time my sister and I were able to watch an episode together. It was fun!)

I agree with a lot of you that we just don't get enough of Felicia. Harriet Sansom Harris is fantastic. Every line, many of which are sad or dark, is delivered with an almost sinister grin. Felicia is weird but she is one of my favorite characters. And so was Mrs. Huber. One almost wonders if they didn't grow up in a very strange home atmosphere because it is implied that both sisters were pretty much loners with few friends. I wonder if we'll get to explore Felicia's background and see if there isn't some dark mystery secret in her past that makes HER desperate.

BTW...I have a question: Marc Cherry created "The Five Mrs. Buchanans" during the 1994-1995 season. Harriet Sansom Harris was in it. And Charlotte Ross played a woman named Bree. And DH has a Bree. Has Marc Cherry ever mentioned his fascination with the name Bree?

This post has gone on long enough already so I will close. I was glad to see Lynette in the workplace. Her new boss is going to be a terror! The best combination of the leading ladies is still, by far, Susan and Edie; you can always count on something funny or surprising happen when they're together.
And I hope Carlos is either released from prison or written out soon; this prison thing is limiting what Gabrielle can do. JMHO.

Geez...I didn't realize I'd written this much. Maybe I need to get a life. But it's fun to imagine what will happen.

I've got a question... when the autospy results come back on Rex, will they be able to tell he was poisoned? It seemed like on Sunday that that may not find out, and apparently George knew that( ). If they do finally confirm he was murdered, then I'm going to be really interested, because Bree and George are going to have to suspect each other, and I just wonder how long that'll be.

LOL... yeah. I think it's the mood swings from the pregnancy. One scene she's upset with Carlos and then the next she dumps John and comes crying back to Carlos.

I would put Gabby finding out about John and the MUCH older woman up there too... that was hilarious when she messed up the yard.

I kept hoping Bree would push Phyllis into the empty grave at the cemetary. :p
