View Full Version : Shows that existed in same universe?
Mr. Monitor 10-01-2005, 08:50 PM Does anyone know of hit shows that existed in the same 'universe' and had character crossovers from time to time? Here's a few that I know of.........
The Cosby Show/A Different World
All in the Family/The Jeffersons
Perfect Strangers/Family Matters/ Step by Step
The Golden Girls/Empty Nest
Freinds/Mad About You/Seinfeld/Caroline In The City
Cheers/Frasier/Wings
spunkygirl 10-01-2005, 09:16 PM Happy Days/Laverne and Shirley
If I remember right, didnt Diff'rent Strokes and Silver Spoons exist in the same universe and had crossovers between those shows?
Dean Winchester 10-01-2005, 09:27 PM awhile back I read the link of all the shows that are connected through the St. Elsewhere universe. Pretty much every major sitcom from Dick Van Dyke to Friends has links in that shows universe, even The Simpsons (through Cheers).... which means they are all actually worlds that exist in a lively autistic childs imagination.

yep, Diff'rent Strokes/Facts Of Life/Hello Larry/Silver Spoons all exist in the same world
cpmaz 10-01-2005, 10:53 PM Does anyone know of hit shows that existed in the same 'universe' and had character crossovers from time to time? Here's a few that I know of.........
The Cosby Show/A Different World
All in the Family/The Jeffersons
Family Matters/ Step by Step
The Golden Girls/Empty Nest
Other than the obvious ones where one show is a spin off of the other (the already noted sitcoms, the L&O shows, the CSIs, Trek, Buffy/Angel) the ones that I can think of are:
Law and Order/Homicide:Life on the Streets
Las Vegas/Crossing Jordan
Adam-12/Dragnet and Emergency!
Newhart/Bob Newhart Show (if dream sequences count. :) Still the greatest ending of a series ever. )
St. Elsewhere/Cheers
Cheers/News shows (real life - all of the pols and celebs that made cameos.)
Beverly Hillbillies/Petticoat Junction (I think)
Walker, Texas Ranger/Martial Law
The Pretender/The Profiler
Those were the ones that I could think of on my own, but I found a site with a list at http://www.poobala.com/crossoverlist.html. It seems to be a little too comprehensive, by including some "logical" entries as being in the same universe, without actual crossovers. Still, a good site.
Kristen 10-01-2005, 10:56 PM Don't forget The Mary Tyler Moore Show, Rhoda, and Phyllis. Those shows all took place in the same universe. Also, didn't Make Room for Daddy, Andy Griffith, and The Dick Van Dyke Show all share a universe?
Kristen
troopoleon8897 10-02-2005, 06:49 PM I just made this chart refering to what Barwars was talking about...
troopoleon8897 10-02-2005, 06:51 PM I can't get my attachment to work so hold on
Does anyone know of hit shows that existed in the same 'universe' and had character crossovers from time to time? Here's a few that I know of.........
The Golden Girls/Empty Nest
I would put Nurses in with Golden Girls and Empty Nest
Dean Winchester 10-02-2005, 10:21 PM Roseanne shares a world with Jeffersons/AITF/and so on and so on with Norman Lear shows, The Wonder Years, Leave It To Beaver, The Brady Bunch, Lassie and Please Don't Eat The Daisies too, along with the "classic" The Jackie Thomas Show
Dean Winchester 10-02-2005, 10:51 PM wait.... how?
there's an episode where Weezy, Carol Brady and the other sitcom moms visit Roseanne in season 7
USTVFanFromUK 10-02-2005, 11:37 PM there's an episode where Weezy, Carol Brady and the other sitcom moms visit Roseanne in season 7
Actually, Carol Brady was never in that episode. However, Florence Henderson did guest-star in another episode in season 6.
The guest-stars on that episode were (according to tv.com)
Guest Stars: June Lockhart (Ruth Martin (uncredited)) , Alley Mills (Norma Arnold (uncredited)) , Barbara Billingsley (June Cleaver (uncredited)) , Pat Crowley (Joan Nash (uncredited)) , Isabel Sanford (Louise Jefferson (uncredited))

oh duh, I knew Florence was in another Roseanne ep around that time, so I thought she ALSO appeared as Carol Brady too
Dean Winchester 10-02-2005, 11:55 PM speaking of Roseanne, it also shared a world with Absolutely Fabulous
dawsongirl 10-03-2005, 01:25 AM Don't forget The Mary Tyler Moore Show, Rhoda, and Phyllis. Those shows all took place in the same universe. Also, didn't Make Room for Daddy, Andy Griffith, and The Dick Van Dyke Show all share a universe?
Kristen
I know that Make Room for Daddy and I Love Lucy shared one.
Kristen 10-03-2005, 01:34 AM I know that Make Room for Daddy and I Love Lucy shared one.
I think Dick Van Dyke is in there, too, b/c Buddy Sorrell was in an ep of Make Room for Daddy. It's on one of my TDVDS season sets, I just can't remember which offhand.
treky 10-03-2005, 03:16 AM Danny Thomas & his TV family from "Make Room For Daddy"?"The Danny Thomas show" were on an episode of "The Lucy/Desi Comedy Hour" once. And both those shows were set in the same "universe".
There was an episode of "Star Trek: The Next Generation" once where Capt. Picard and Dr. Crusher visited the station from "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine" & Dr. Bashir from "DS9" guest-starred.
Also, Marina Sertis (Deanna Troy on "Star Trek: The Next Generation") and Dwight Shultz (Reg Barcaly on "Next Gen.") were on a few episodes of "Star Trek: Voyager" as Troy & Barcaly.
(all the "Trek" shows, exept for "Enterprise" take place at the same time)
Once, on "C.S.I.: Miami", Horatio Kane went to New York on a case, and was working with Mac Taylor from "C.S.I.: New York"
in the 70s, "The Six Million Dollar Man" & "The Bionic Woman" made a number of crossover appearences. And Richard Anderson played the same character on both shows.
And then there was all the cross-overs in the 60s between cast members of "The Beverlly Hillbillies", "Petticoat Junction, & "Green Acres".
And a few times, cast members of "The Andy Griffith show" guested on "Gomer Pyle-U.S.M.C."
I know of a LOT more, but they're WAY TOO NUMEROUS to mention!!!
troopoleon8897 10-03-2005, 07:18 AM I'm gonna try this one more time but if it doesn't work I can always sed you a private msg with it, It is The St. Elsewhere Connection
TVFactFan 10-03-2005, 09:17 AM All in the Family/Maude/Jeffersons/Checking In
TVFactFan 10-03-2005, 03:16 PM Happy Days/Laverne and Shirley
If I remember right, didnt Diff'rent Strokes and Silver Spoons exist in the same universe and had crossovers between those shows?
you forgot-Happy Days/Laverne and Shirley/Joanie Loves Chachi
I'm not sure about Diffrent Strokes and Silver Spoons. The Arnold character appearing on SS made not sense at all. His reason for being on SS was not at all connected to Diffrent Strokes
troopoleon8897 10-03-2005, 04:18 PM All in the Family/Maude/Jeffersons/Checking In

spunkygirl 10-10-2005, 04:03 PM Also wouldn't Boy Meets World/Step By Step/Full House/Sabrina the Teenage Witch/Family Matters all be in the same universe?
