Can somebody give me a detailed summary on the marriages breakdown so i am a little curious.

No they didn't. Episodes 8&9 (Really 8, but in syndication it's a two parter), featured Rhoda's looong awaited marriage to Joe Gerard. Just a correction. Hope this helps!

Joe always seemed wishy washy to me,..
always curbing Rhoda's optimism and
independence.

It seemed that is what ended their marriage on the show...when Joe suddenly finds
that he needs to "find himself" or something like that. Good riddance! She was better without him.

I kind of agree with this. Joe didn't seem to ever support Rhoda in doing anything on her own, and I think that's something she really needed. I think Joe wanted a wife who would just be all about him and not have any ambitions of her own, and that's definitely not what Rhoda was. Of course all of this is is just IMO. It's just my interpretation of what I saw on the show.
