View Full Version : That's Entertainment, Evans Style
Brian Damage 09-27-2005, 10:58 AM I liked this season 5 episode. One thing I found odd, was that JJ was missing in this episode. He was missing in other episodes, but it seems whenever the show did a Variety hour type show, JJ was nowhere to be found. He was missing in the Rent Party episode as well.

I know and the difference between Rent Party and That's Entertainment, Evans Style, was that in rent party there was an explanation for his absence, in Last night episode there was no mention of him at all
Jinxey 09-27-2005, 12:23 PM They were also the last episodes of the fourth and fifth season.

the fact that you didn't realize he was not in the episode proves he wasn't that much to look at-LOL

Brieannas21 09-27-2005, 10:39 PM I enjoyed all of their Variety type shows. The only part I didn't like in this episode was when Willona was singing, I didn't care for that too much.

Me too. I did not care for Willona's singing on that episode. Big difference in the song she did on the show compared to her singing Movin On Up. The Rent Party episode she sung better on that one than Entertainment Evans' Style.
I sure enjoyed Michael and Penny's duet. Ralph Carter have a good voice. Thelma's dance piece was outstanding.
I was glad to see J.J. not on the show. The show stood on its own without him.

JJ should have been in it and did some stand up, as in the rent party too. ;)

I didn't even miss JJ in this episode, And I didn't miss him in the rent party episode either. In season 6 the Christmas episode his little standup/hosting thing wasn't funny.

In That's Entertainment, Evans Style, there was a mention for JJ's absence. JJ was attending an advertising convention. That scene was at the beginning of the episode on the 5th season DVD, but I suppose you're talking about TV LAND, who's trademark is badly editing episodes.
Imad

The Rent Party was actually the last episode of the third season.

Youn know you are probably right, I have the UNCUT version of this episode on VHS and by me watching the Sh*TTyLand version, I forgot that it was an explanation for his absence-lol

WHAT?!? You mean to tell me you don't like the Jeffersons theme song?

You know, we are being almost brainwashed here by TVLand, which is pretty sad. That's why at times my memory tells me something different when I watch the episodes. Craftman is always amazed at my memory of fine details. I from the old school, when a show was in first syndication it was shown in it's entirety, then little by little as each syndication went by it was edited more and more. LMAO sh*ttyland!!!!!! good one
JeffRuss1972 09-28-2005, 07:32 PM That's true, because for YEARS, until I got the season 3 DVD, I had no idea where J.J. was in the ep "Rent Party". The clip with them talking about him at an art exhibition was ALWAYS cut out.
TVFactFan 09-28-2005, 07:44 PM WHAT?!? You mean to tell me you don't like the Jeffersons theme song?
Nope, I have to agree with Cleveland Amory, it was kind of chessy. But the show was far from chessy. I don't like Good Times Theme either.

I'm not sure if TV LAND cut it out but I know the part with Florida saying J.J went to St. Louis was defintely cut on TBS

Hey, I can't believe you remembered that I'm amazed by your memory.......wait a minute..... what am I saying, I CAN believe it. Ha Ha :D
Brieannas21 09-28-2005, 10:19 PM Yeah it's amazing what things you can remember from a tv show that you use to watch when you were a little kid. It's like me and Alf, Small Wonder, Silver Spoons Punky Brewster, I haven't seen those shows since I was like 7 or 8 but I can still remember things that happened on different episodes.

Craftman LOL!!!!
I guess because GT is a relatively simple show to remember, there isn't alot going on plot wise, not like alot of shows where they venture to diff. "locales" different homes, different sets alot. It is very simple. I love GT!!
