Show Description

The hilarious comedy, Amen, is one of the few comedies centering on religion. The show, set at the First Community Church of Philadelphia, with a mostly African American congregation, focuses on the comical differences between Deacon Ernest Frye, played by Sherman Hemsley, and the Reverend Reuben Gregory, played by Clifton Davis.

Deacon Frye, the chairman of the board of trustees in the church founded by his father was, has ran the church for many years. With his ego, controlling demeanor, and holier-than-thou attitude, he irritates many in his church congregation. Nonetheless, the egotistical Frye is put to the test with the arrival of a new minister, Rev. Gregory. For the most part, Deacon Frye's impulsive ideas cause the church trouble, only until Rev. Gregory is able to have everything resolved.

Thelma, played by Anna Marie Horsford, is the Deacon's daughter who suffers from a string broken hearts and is sometimes awkward in social settings. Despite the lack of sympathy from her father, she quickly makes Rev. Gregory the target of her new romance.

Other notable characters include church members Casietta and Amelia Hetebrink, played by Barbara Montgomery and Roz Ryan. Rolly Forbes, played by Jester Hairston, is the elderly church board member who frequently offers Deacon Frye advice, only to have it ignored on most occasions.

TV One is proud to return a comedy that kept a sense of humor while being mostly grounded in religious content. This series gives viewers an insight into the lives and situations that are very visible in the African American community.

im putting it on 4 eps to a disc straight run

with commercials and all

should take about 5 weeks total


if anyone is interested for a set, let me know

ill be offereing a free set to whom ever wants to cut the comemrcials and drop title menus on the discs

nothing fancy, just selectable menus, cut the adds and place it in order--since tvone is jumping around

I can't wait till tommrow. I will be able to make my set using ulead and edit commercials out with tmpg. I"m not very creative when it comes to stuff like this.

I thank you VERY MUCH for posting a reply to my thread... You are very kind. Please elaborate on your comments about using DIRECT PC TV-CARD recording..I would be very interested in anything you can share on the subject. I have a media Center PC and it works reasonably well, but I personally prefer SET-TOP BOX. SET-TOP Box is so EASY and the discs come out "dupe-able" every time.. As far as I can see PC-TV Card has reliability issues... Just my opinion - I am not an expert (wish I was)... Your SITCOMS ONLINE BUDDY is: Donny-Dawg
