I've always been puzzled as to why Mother Jefferson was always putting down Louise. She had no real reason to dislike her. Louise was good-hearted, open-minded, and reasonable to people. Usually on TV when characters hate each other, we get insight as to why. I tend to wonder if Mother Jefferson would have liked Louise if she was as stubborn, close-minded, and loud-mouthed as George.

Probably because she was drunk. :D

It was finally mentioned that Mother Jefferson didn't like Louise because she wanted George to marry someone else. Can't remember what season it was but it might have been season 2.
