View Full Version : Thelma being a bad cook

I got tired of this old stereotype about a young beautiful woman not being able to cook. Thelma's cooking was always the butt of a joke from someone...even Willona! They didn't have to gang up on her, I'm mainly talking about J.J. and Michael. J.J. didn't even look like he liked food anyway, and as for Michael, he should have cooked his own food, especially as he got older. Thelma not being able to cook got old, and they should have wrote a scene where she cooked a decent dinner. It's not like she wasn't capable of doing it.

I know, that was a ongoing joke all the way to she got married to Keith

Even Keith (her future husband at the time) joned her out.

"This meat is tougher than the Dallas defense". He should've changed that to JJ being tougher. It was him that caused Keith to quit and hold an emotional press conference announcing his retirement. :rotflmao: :rotflmao:

J.J. didn't like food, period! LOL. The jokes were getting old. Don't eat it if you don't like it. Go get a "Big Mac" as J.J. would put it. Let us not forget the proud day when J.J. complimented Thelma on her pancakes. It was the episode when Keith had the drinking problem. Finally, she gets complemented!

Even though the jokes were old and tired, let's be honest, Thelma was just there for the majority of the show's run. They needed to get her involved some how.

LOL Well I'm 24, married with a daughter who's about to turn 2 and I'm 8 months pregnant (almost 9 in two weeks) with my second and I can't cook either. I can cook breakfast but that's about it. And my Mom is a wonderful cook but I never really sat there and watched her cook. When my husband and I were dating he would make fun of me all the time, my dad and Mom would also. I always said that I'll marry a man who knew how to cook and that's why I did LOL.

But now we are both very busy around my house with work, Now and again I work 9-10 hr days so now it's mostly takeout or pasta, that's the second thing I know how to cook pasta. Tomorrow I take my maternity leave so I'll learn at least one more dish before I have my baby, so it'll be 3 things that I'll know how to cook LOL

Sad I know

I remember when Thelma made Oatmeal for james and did a horible job, james was never going to tell her that she messed up, he was not going to hurt her feelings.

Thanks Irene I can't wait until she's born I'm miserable. I can't wait until I get my body back.

Yeah Thelma was home a lot of the time, I don't understand why she continued to cook if she was such a bad cook. Why is it that JJ and Michael didn't get up and cook their own breakfast, lunch and dinner?

Thank You Irene, I'm starting to have a few contractions so I know it won't be long.

Yeah I never understood why Michael and JJ didn't fix their own meals. If I were Thelma I wouldn't have cooked anything for them I would have just cooked for myself.

Yeah I didn't know what the deal was that Thelma always had to make breakfast. She even had to pour cereal for Michael, he couldn't pour his own cornflakes? But Michael did complement her tho, he said that was the best breakfast she ever made in her whole life. LOL

They should've cooked their own meals since they didn't like Thelma's cooking. They should know not to let a beautiful woman slave over a hot stove
