At what age? And I mean single dates, not just group dates. I'm 14 and I'm still not even allowed to go out on group dates :(

I don't know. It was unfortunately never an issue with me. :( Nowadays, my parents would be thrilled if I got a date!

First group date I went on, I was 15. Last one I was 16. ohno:

I wouldn't worry too much about it at your age about the whole "dating façade." I know it seems like a big deal at 14 because you are currently living in the present. In reality, 14 is still such a young age, anyway. :)

By the time I was 13 or 14, my parents didn't mind me dating boys. It was just something that happened and my parents were ok with it. Usually I dated guys that were friends of my brother.

Cathy, a guy would be lucky to have you as a girlfriend. You are really sweet and have a great sense of humor. :)

I had my first date at 15. This wasn't because my parents didn't allow me to date until I was 15, it was because I could not get a girl to go out with me until I was 15.

I've never been on one at all. I rarely talk to boys and they rarely talk to me.

No worries, youngin. Enjoy your age and try not too worry about dating, it'll come. Believe me, I was dating and a lot more starting around your age and it didn't do a thing for me. What I'm trying to say is that by the time your 18-20 you will have had so many good times that it won't even matter to you that you weren't able to do some of the stuff your friends are able to do right now. Have fun and stay true to who you are.

I could pretty much go out on a date right now as long as my parents get introduced to the guy. Unfortunately, I'm still a virgin at dating. :(

Hello.
Well, one half of one half of one half (one eighth?) of the problem solved.

Who dates in Elementary School? :rotflmao:

But anyway, I think 17 is sort of pushing it, but I wouldn't worry about it now. I'd say in two years or so.

My parents always said 16, but I didn't go on my first date till i was 17... I never even had a boyfriend in middle school, I didn't have a serious boyfriend until my Senior year in HS. So that tells you a little about my love life!

14 is too young to worry about that crap. Too bad you can't take a lesson from my 14 year old sister. She's boy crazy, but also understand that at 14 it's stupid to have a "relationship." Anyway my parents never had to worry about that with me. I just went out on my first date, 2 weeks ago. It'll happen when it's supposed to.

I've actually never been on a date. My parents never said when the appropriate age would be for me to date, but I knew that if it was before 16, my parents (mostly my mom) would freak. But now that I'm 18 and have a car....who knows. But yeah...single dates always seem like a better idea. Double dates....what if the other couple knows each other longer and all they do is make out the entire time? I don't know...I've just always assumed singles would be better. *shrugs*

Like more than half of the parents in the US let their kids, I'm gonna let my kids (IF I can ever get a guy to have kids with) date whenever they want! Well they can go OUT on a date when they're in 5th or 6th grade. I will never be strict with my kids.

Well whatever, that's one way to screw up your kids, and become a grandma early.

Being that I just had my first date not that long ago, I have no idea when my parents would have "let" me date. But my brother first started dating when he was 13, my mom was fine with it but started to freak out the longer they stayed together. They were together for 3 years before they broke up last year.

your kids would have very messed up lives if you raised them under those circumstances.

I actually love the single life as well. All my friends call me wanting to talk to me about their boyfriend troubles...such drama. I'm glad I'm not experiencing it... :D

double dates are better when everyone knows each other and it's more like a bunch of buds hanging out.
