According to CBS, Brad Garrett might be getting his own spin off of Robert. He wasn't trying to be funny at the Emmy's when he said that their might be a spin off. He is in talks with CBS and Philip Rosenthal will come on and be on of the writers for the show. His Wife Monica will play his wife like on ELR and his parents-in-law and brother-in-law will also be in the show, if they decide to do it.
If they do it, I hope they bring in Patty as a special guest. I would love that. Just to see her in some episodes.

It would seem that the window of opportunity for such a project has passed. Wouldn't they have been smarter to have had it ready to succeed Everybody Loves Raymond right now??
They had a Joey preview ready to air the night the Friends finale aired. On the other hand, maybe taking the extra time to develop a Robert spinoff will result in a better show, if Joey is any indication.

I read an article about this and It sounds just like everybody loves raymond just focusing more on Robert...
Robert Barone = Raymond Barone
Monica Barone = Debra Barone
Pat McDougal = Marie Barone
Hank McDougal = Frank Barone
Peter McDougal = Robert Barone
If they make it they should call it Nobody Loves Robert

I hope this is true. I would love to see a spinoff of Robert. And more Debra cannot be bad. ;)

I am keeping my fingers crossed, but I just don't see it happening.

I love Brad but it seems whenever a character gets their own show, it is destined to be cancelled. Brad's character worked on Raymond, with the family. Whether this will be a spin-off of the Robert character, it may not work. I don't know. I don't have high hopes only because of past history of other television characters.

I'd love to see it happen. I think Monica Horan is really underrated, and I'd love to see Georgia Engel back on TV regularly.

That would be great if a spinoff were developed. Robert was my favorite character on ELR so I would definitely watch the show. It could be a successful show if the writers of Raymond were involved with the show. As long as there is great writing and acting, I think a spinoff can succeed. It worked for "Frasier".

I found this article about the spinoff situation.
Garrett says 'Raymond' spinoff not likely
Oct. 31, 2005 at 9:43AM
"Everybody Loves Raymond" star Brad Garrett says inaction by CBS has most likely killed any chance of a spinoff happening.
"CBS waited so long (to put it in motion) that we've lost most of the writers," Garrett told FoxNews.com.
Garrett is currently on Broadway playing Murray the Cop in the revival of "The Odd Couple" with Nathan Lane and Matthew Broderick.
Talk swirled last summer about the "Raymond" spinoff starring Garrett and Ray Romano even mentioned it during the recent Emmy Awards.
"We're in limbo now," Garrett told Fox columnist Roger Friedman. "So it looks like it won't happen."

I would like to see a Robert spin-off, but -- as you stated -- more often than
not, when that happens the spin-off is short-lived. There are a few exceptions
(e.g., FRASIER). But usually the show bombs (FLO, FISH, ENOS, and JOANIE
LOVES CHACHI were all flops).
