My favorite on Petticoat Junction was Betty Jo at first because she had charm, independance and wisdom.

When I got a little older,my favorite was Bobbie Jo because of her sensitivity and her real charm and beauty.

When I got a little older,I liked Billie Jo more because of her understanding, charm and definite sex appeal.(I was 14/15 by then.)

I may be just moruning this lovely lady, but I did love Meredith MacRae.She was so charming and lovely and her character was so wise and so understanding. Her songs were always a treat to hear on Petticoat Junction and she was one of the many women on TV who made puberty a very nice time for me.

My favorite is Kate (Bea Benedaret). And if possible it would be great to replace the above picture with one with her in it. After she died and left the show, Petticoat Junction lost its heart and soul. June Lockhart just didn't add anything to it for me.

My favorite is the dog. Animals usually have more sense and sensitivity than people.

Mine would have to be Uncle Joe. He reminds me of myself...always trying to get out of doing work and scheming to get rich quick;)

Uncle Joe was my favorite character.... but Bobbi Jo (Lori Saunders) was the most beautiful! She was charming, gorgeous, and funny!

Bobbi Jo was my favorite, even though she didn't get as many story lines as
Betty Jo. She could deliver some pretty funny lines.

I've got to go with Uncle Joe. Although Sam Drucker was a close second!

my favorite character throughout the series was "Dog" played by Higgins the dog...who went on to Benji fame. Not only was he cute, he was extremely intelligent...and one of the few characters to remain with the series throughout it's entire run. I was often amazed at some of the incrdible things that "they" (being Frank Inn) managed to get him to do on the show. Just seeing him brings a smile to my face :) ....(see pic) It's also amazing that throughout the series he was never given a name aside from "Dog" or "Boy". There is apparently an episode where one of the Bradley girls goofs and actually calls him "Higgins" and the error was kept in the episode.

My favorite character was Kate Bradley. She was such a down to earth person, that everyone one on the show went to her to solve their poblems and she made everyone feel at home. One epidosde in particular (I can't remember the epidsode title) but it was in the fifth season just before Bea got sick. It was the episode that Uncle Joe invited a famous person to do a review on the hotel and a unpretentious couple came to the hotel also. Uncle Joe waited on the famous person constantly. The following day the unpretentious couple told kate that they "enjoyed the singing they heard upstairs," when asked why they didn't join them for singing, they said they thought it was for family only. Kate immediately said "Tonight you come join us for singing." That night the lady was sitting by Kate and singing along with everybody else. I just like how Kate made strangers and friends alike feel at home.
I wish more shows were like that. Especially today's shows

Not to be picky, but he wasn't on the whole series. He wasn't on until the frst episode of the 2nd season "Betty Jo's Dog". Also, a later season had his name in the title "Higgins Come Home". If I were to vote a character, I may have to go with him too...As Frank Cady said on the interview History of Hooterville, he was better trained than some human actors! :)

That's a good point. I had almost forgotten that he wasn't in the first season of the series...thanks for the clarification.
i'm so used to his chasing the train in the end credits ... this was apparently an illusion, as in the actual filming of this sequence you see the train first and then the dog, but never the two together...what they did was have Higgins chase a camera that was going the same speed as the train on the tracks but without the actual train...when put together it looked like he was actually chasing a train... in a way I'm relieved to hear that as it doesn't sound as dangerous as actually chasing a live train!

That quote by Frank Cady is hilarious....he really was an intelligent little pooch! Apparently some of his acting specialties included
yawning and sneezing on cue ...how many people can sneeze on cue? ... and opening a mailbox and taking out the letter. He was also able to convey a wide range of emotions thru his facial expressions ... quite the talented little guy....i always wished I had a dog just like him. :)

OH Nuts!

Kate hands down! I just thought she had such an appealing personality. And such wisdom.
