And took Ralph Malph with him.

It just wasn't as much fun without the Richie/Fonzie interaction.

I agree, any show would fade off if the main star leaves

You're right, it was no fun at all when Richie left.It really went downhill from then.I only love to see the episodes starring Richie :loveya:

We are trying to say when a star character leaves, it's a HUGE HOLE left in the show. And that's what happened when richie left

The show was alright after Richie left, but they should have renamed it to "Less Happy Days."

The only episodes that pull me away from what I'm doing to sit down and watch are the early shows before they went live.

I felt Happy Days jumped the shark when Ron Howard left. the Richie/Fonzie relationship became the focal point of the show.

I didn't like when Richie left, but I actually thought that when Chachi was on there it was really good.

I've said it a million and a half times and I'll say it again...I loved HD from episode 1, to 255.

I've only seen episodes from season 1-3 (stupid Dutch networks won't air the show anymore  ), so I never saw the non-Richie shows. But it seems to me that a show loses a lot of its glance once a main character leaves. I wonder what 'Happy Days' has to be like without a Richie-Fonzie relationship.

Like T.F. Storm, I like all of the episodes. I always find myself looking forward to the post Richie/Ralph episodes when they're on the horizon of the TV Land schedule.

WRONG, WRONG, WRONG!!! I'VE SAID IT BEFORE, AND I'LL SAY IT AGAIN! "HAPPY DAYS" LOST IT FROM THE 2ND SEASON ON WHEN THEY ADDED THE LIVE AUDIENCE AND MADE IT "THE FONZIE SHOW"!!!!!

so they can hear it on the bridge of the Enterprise, which reminds me - they shoulda had a HD-Star Trek crossover

And if you're lucky, you will never get to see those non-Richie and Ralph seasons.;)

in agreement Dr. Thong...actually, the show lost its lackluster appeal when they went from the original format to later filming in front of an audience...Fonzie was much better then and the storylines were very interesting.

I still want to see what they're like. I've seen the last season openingscredits ans it all looks *so* different. I've read a lot about those last seasons too and it seems like a totally different show. Potsie a minor character? Potsie and Ralph not in the final episode? Ted McGinly? Thousand of Cunningham nephwes, nieces and cousins, coming and then leaving again? Fonzie is in his 30's and still wearing tight jeans and a leather jacket? Is that right? ;)

It just became an embarassment. It wasn't the same show. Fonzie became progressively nerdy as the show went on. The Fonzie from the first two seasons would have kicked his ass. No, for some odd reason they couldn't get Donny Most and Anson Williams to do the last episode. By that point, Potsie was only a recurring character appearing in a handful of episodes.

I always think of the Fonzie from the first two seasons as the "real" Fonzie. Much cooler. In the first episode, he didn't have his first spoken line of dialogue until the very end.

Well, I've seen most of season 3 and 4 too (I checked out the episode guide and realised I saw a lot of season 4 although I thought I didn't) and the Fonzie I see there is the Fonzie I love so much. I know he was slightly different in the first two seasons, but... I like it that he became a bigger part of the show. Who could forget the episode in which he does a dance marathon with Joanie? Or the one in which he has an older (and married!) girlfriend? Or the one where he goes to see a psychologist? Or the one where he's locked with Richie, Ralph and Potsie in Howard's vault? Classical Fonzie if you ask me.

the show was by far better with richie but there are a decent amount of watchable episodes from some i did say some of the latter episode the worst season by far is season 10 the whole fonzie and ashley thing really did make it the fonzie show.but the last season was good.not as good but good.

Another thing that bothered me about Fonzie in the later seasons was that he also seemed very childish at times. Just his attitude and ways. And in retrospect, here was a 40-year-old man still wearing a leather jacket and chasing girls half his age. Kind of disturbing if you think about it.

think abt it??? it is so obvious. He became a caricature. He wasn't "cool" like the original Fonzie. He was being laughed at. That stupid episode abt Potsie flunking that course and he needed to pass the test on the human heart...well, when Fonzie walked in and started them on that stupid a$$ song, that is when Happy Days jumped over the moon at this point, it was beyond jumping the shark. Hmmmm, this post is making me think of a thread. I am going to post it right now...lol

After Richie left, Fonzie should have took that leather jacket off. It was time for it to go

Yeah, Happy Days was showing signs of wear and tear even in the 6th and 7th years. Another dumb show was the seventh season one where Fonzie battled Melvin Scratch (aka the devil) for Chachi's soul. Stupid. If it were up to me, I would have let Melvin take Chachi - it would have spared us Joanie Loves Chachi.:D

Another reason why HD should have ended with season seven.

40? I thought he was 30 by then. When the show began, Richie was 17 and Fonzie was 2 years older, making him 19. In the Second Anniversary Special, they're celebrating his 20th birthday. So 10 years later, in season 10, he must've been 29 or 30.

I guess I'm going by Henry Winkler's real-life age. He was around 40 when the show ended its run. I always figured Fonzie was at least a couple of years older than Richie and the gang.

Fonzie may have been close to 30, but the guy playing him was 40, which made the leather jacket and the young girls kind of pathetic. Well, the jacket anyway....:D
