View Full Version : for those of you who love nostalgia like me...
Number 9 Dream 09-17-2005, 01:50 PM There's an excellent site out there for people like me who want to remember the glory of growing up in the 80's (and even the 70's and early 90's too). A few guys assembled this site for all the little, forgotten things from their childhood, ranging from toys to commercials, to food and other one year wonders. There's LOADS commercials you can view too.
The site is a bit hard to browse but you can do a search on the bottom and find what you're interested in :) It has a little bit of everything. ( the Halloween section is my favorite).
And, no, this is not :spam: ;)

PZelda 09-17-2005, 02:05 PM That site is frigging HILARIOUS! I've known about X-E since 2001 or 2002. I love the webmaster's articles. He did one on Hi-C juice from 1992 that had me in tears, and I laughed about it for a month afterwards.

 I have an assload of useless things I'm not sure why I'm still holding on to.
- Some external medication for when I had a plantar wart on my foot in 1990. It expired in 1992, and I STILL have it.
- I still have an assload of lotion I got back when I was in high school. They've started turning brown in the bottle.
- Tin of chocolate candy my dad got for me when he went to Florida for a convention. He had a free day and went to Disney World. This was in February 2001 (I wrote the date on the bottom of the tin) and now the chocolate is all gross-looking.
- Earlier this spring, I was cleaning out a box my mom had, it was full of receipts dating as far back as 1994. I found her old coupon book, and she had a ton of non-expiration coupons for food dating as far back as 1985(!). Some of them were for foods that have been discontinued -- there's one for Cinnamon Mini Buns (my fave cereal as a kid), and I haven't had any in maybe 11 or 12 years.
- Along the same lines, I found an assload of rolls of film. One of them had something on the side that said USE BY JUNE 95. I managed to come up with 7 undeveloped rolls of film...Except for that one roll of film with the date on it, I have no idea how old the others are.
I swear I'm not that bad of a packrat now! I actually threw out a ton of my brownified lotions, and I got rid of about 95% of the receipts the night I was cleaning out that box. A lot of them are small items, so they don't take up that much space. Really. ;) I love looking at the old coupons. A lot of them are from the 80's. :D You should see my pen collection, though.....
Number 9 Dream 09-17-2005, 10:29 PM I'm glad you guys liked the site :) I really enjoyed just browsing around, remembering snacks and those little things I may have forgotten from childhood. I can't believe he has those rare commercials too!

It'd take WEEKS and quite a few CD's to fill 'em all up. That guy has commercials AND video clips (clips from Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade 1984, 1985 and 1986 for example) scattered all over the place. Another reason I love X-E. You never know what you'll find. :D
Number 9 Dream 09-17-2005, 11:11 PM Very true :) It's amazing how much I actually remembered after viewing this stuff! It had just been shoved back in my mind....for example, Freezy Freakies gloves!!! Man, I had those things and loved them! I thought I was the only one who remembered those :happyface
